Father’s Day Gift Guide 2019

Harsono & Olivia

Just a few more weeks left for Father’s Day 2019 here in Australia and if you are looking for some great gadgets as a gift, you’ve come at the right place.

We are approaching Christmas but we have certainly reviewed many gadgets along the year here at Craving Tech and can recommend many of them for the best dad.

Recommended headphones

Want to tickle his ears with the best sounding experience possible? We certainly have tested and reviewed many in this category this year.

If he likes to travel on a business trip by plane, then it’s time to give him an active noise cancelling headphones. You can’t go wrong with either the Bose QuietComfort 35 II (for the best noise cancelling experience), Apple Beats Studio 3 Wireless (if he’s on the iPhone & also love to watch movies on a phone), or the Jabra Elite 85h that I’m using right now on an overseas trip, which is a great all-around headphones.

If you are after a more budget-friendly headphones with ANC, make sure to check out the Plantronics BackBeat GO 810.

Recommended Earphones

If he likes something smaller and more portable, a good set of earphones should give him a smile. You might have not heard about PaMu, but their latest PaMu Slide is quite popular and sounds great too. However, if he likes to jog or exercise, I’d recommend something that has a more secure fit like the Apple Powerbeats Pro. It has a good Bass that will certainly boost his energy while exercising too.

Another option is also the Jabra Elite Active 65t which is designed and engineered in Denmark. Our reviewer, Jeremy, jogged frequently with it.

Recommended Smart Home Devices

We have reviewed a range of smart home devices from different brands this year, ranging from entertainment purpose to home security.

For entertainment purposes, the new Philips Hue Play is a great, instant buy. It enhances the ambiance of a room and if you sync it to a PC, you are in for a treat.

For the kitchen – if he likes to cook, we have the Philips AirFryer XXL and also an Anova Precision Cooker at home. We have not published any reviews for these but I personally use them at home.

For home security, there are plenty of new cameras this year from different, popular brands like the Arlo Ultra (4K, smart detection), Swann Floodlight Security Camera (perfect for the driveway), Ring StickUp Cam (versatile positioning), or the D-Link OMNA Wire-Free (great battery life).

Recommended Gaming Peripherals

Philips Hue Play Review

We’ve also got non-stop review samples coming from different gaming peripheral manufacturers over the year. All these peripherals aim to give you the advantage in battle and here are the best ones.

For the keyboard, CORSAIR’s new K70 RGB MK.2 LOW PROFILE Gaming Keyboard is my favourite gaming keyboard at the moment. It’s comfortable to type, looks great on the desk, and perform admirably in games.

The mouse is the most important arsenal to win, and accurate sensor wins battle. For Logitech fans, check out the Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse. But if he’s not a fan of a wireless mouse, check out CORSAIR NIGHTSWORD RGB and Razer Basilisk Essential gaming mouse (which costs less than AU$100, a perfect gift for the gamer dad if you are on a budget).

Gaming headsets is next on the list. It’s very important to be able to hear your opponents before they make a move on your team. We have plenty of recommendations for sure, but make sure to check the Audeze Mobius for the audiophile gamers as it has a truly amazing sound. It’s not wireless though, so if you are looking for a wireless gaming headset, check out the Logitech G935 or the more budget-friendly HyperX Cloud Stinger Wireless.

Other recommended items

Kindle Oasis 2019 Review

For fitness, everyone would love to wear a Fitbit. If he never owns a Fitbit before, he’ll love the new Fitbit Versa Lite, which is a lite version of the Fitbit Versa. But if you are on a budget, you can gift him the Fitbit Inspire HR instead.

If your dad likes to read a book, I’d highly recommend getting him the latest Kindle Oasis from Amazon. The display is bright, easy on the eyes, and the Kindle is very compact and light as well.

For the latest smartphone, there are lots of good contenders. While the HUAWEI P30 Pro has an unpredictable future thanks to Trump, it still is a great phone with awesome camera. OPPO Reno 5G is also a good phone, especially because it’s future-proof and can run on Telstra’s new 5G network.

For Hygiene, I’m about to review the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean with AirFloss Ultra, a perfect combo of the most popular electric toothbrush with an advanced flossing solution. It’s still on its way but make sure to check our Philips Sonicare DiamondClean review.

We do hope that you can find something for your dad this year!
