Mother’s Day 2019 Gift Guide

Ariel and her mom, Adriani

Mother’s Day 2019 is just around the corner, and Craving Tech has got you covered as always! From professional-moms to extra-ordinary-moms taking care of tough housework, there is always something for everyone.

And of course, nothing is too late – in fact, you still have time to secure a gift for your wonderful supermom! Here are some of our recommended gifts, based on the past year product releases that we’ve reviewed at Craving Tech.

For healthy moms (or wannabe), the latest Fitbit Inspire HR makes a perfect gift – especially if this is the first Fitbit for her. It’s quite affordable and contains all the best features Fitbit can offer: activities, stats, heart-rate monitoring, etc. For a fancier-looking tracker, we’d recommend having a look at the HUAWEI WATCH GT. It’s more beautiful and watch-alike.

If she already has a tracker that she likes, you can always get her a new set of earphones to accompany her exercise sessions like the Jaybird Tarah Pro. I’m also reviewing the PaMu Slide, but it’s not out yet. So far I’d really recommend it, so keep an eye on it later on for her birthday gift or Christmas.

If she really likes her music, there are many ways to pamper her (or her ears) through sound upgrades. Bose QuietComfort 35 II has an awesome active noise cancelling, making it perfect for commuters (on train and on the plane especially). For movie watchers, you can upgrade your home theatre set up with Alexa, made possible thanks to the Amazon Echo Link or Link Amp. This way, she can play her favourite songs from Spotify to the home speakers.

Everyone needs more power to their phones. If your mom socialises a lot on her phone or has a tendency to run out of battery before the end of the day, consider gifting her the Mophie Juice Pack Access battery case (for iPhone XS Max only, but Mophie has something similar for other iPhone models) or a portable battery like the one from EFM – which is my favourite portable battery at the moment because of its versatility.

Speaking of smartphones, how about giving your mom “the best digital photo frame ever made” (PS: quoted from The Verge)? Google Home Hub can automatically curate, organise, and display the photos dynamically on its 7″ LCD screen. You can set what sort of photos to search for and display, thanks to the integration with Google Photos. I myself use Google Photos to store all the memories I took with my smartphones and can’t wait to see this feature in action. She can also ask Google for recipes or show the tutorial cooking videos on screen. Perfect for the kitchen. We are reviewing this at the moment, so stay tuned for the full review in 2-3 weeks time.

If you are looking to spice things up in the kitchen, I’d recommend the Nutribullet Balance to make all sort of healthy, yummy smoothie! Even if she never blends her own smoothie, the app offers plenty of recipes to start with and the unit also has a smart scale to make the exact, perfect concoction. Healthy or indulgence? Let her choose.

And…….how about the ultimate gift for your mom? Nothing will make her shout in joy (I can promise you that) more than getting the Dyson Airwrap. It’s so popular that it was out of stock everywhere for weeks the moment it came out (we got an early review sample, thankfully). But you can get it delivered now within 1-2 days and it’s the perfect gift to give your mom a new, amazing hairstyle like my wife’s!

And don’t forget, there is also the latest Dyson V11 cordless vacuum cleaner that looks really good but also has many improvements over its predecessor. While we haven’t had our chance to review one yet, it looks like it’s another winner in the vacuum cleaner’s world. You can also get the older generation model like the V10, and she’d still be completely satisfied – especially if she’s still using heavy, corded vacuum cleaner that she pulls around the house.

The whole crew of Craving Tech wish you a Happy Mother’s Day!
