The REDMAGIC 10 Air has officially launched in China (with the international version to be announced on 23 April, 2025), bringing a new level of mobile gaming performance in an incredibly slim package. At just 7.85mm thin and weighing only 205g, this new gaming powerhouse manages to pack flagship specs whilst maintaining the “Same Chill. Just Light” philosophy that REDMAGIC is promoting with this release.
Make sure to check my review on the previous REDMAGIC 9 Pro to find out what the fuss is all about with this gaming phone.
I’m particularly impressed by how REDMAGIC has addressed the typical bulk issue that plagues most gaming devices. The combination of high-end internals with such a sleek form factor is genuinely something worth noting in the mobile gaming space.
The REDMAGIC 10 Air doesn’t compromise on power, featuring the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor at its core. What makes this setup particularly interesting is the inclusion of REDMAGIC’s proprietary RedCore R3 and Energy Cube co-processors, which handle secondary tasks like audio processing, haptics and lighting management.
This intelligent task delegation keeps the main processor focused on gaming performance and according to REDMAGIC, should maintain consistent frame rates in demanding titles like Genshin Impact and Call of Duty Mobile whilst reducing thermal buildup. It’s a smart approach that should appeal to serious mobile gamers who prioritise sustained performance during lengthy gaming sessions.
With the new model, it’s powered by the 9-layer ICE Cooling System, which incorporates solid-state liquid metal and a 3D vapour chamber – cooling technologies typically found in gaming laptops rather than smartphones. This comprehensive thermal solution promises to maintain peak performance during extended gaming sessions of up to four hours without throttling.
For anyone who’s experienced performance drops during intensive mobile gaming due to overheating, this cooling system could be a genuine game-changer for mobile esports competitors and enthusiastic gamers alike.
The device sports a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with impressive specs: 93.7% screen-to-body ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,600 nits peak brightness. What’s particularly noteworthy for gamers is the 2,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate paired with a 960Hz constant touch sampling rate, ensuring incredibly responsive controls that could make all the difference in competitive play.
REDMAGIC has also included their signature 520Hz shoulder triggers, which have become essential for serious mobile gamers who need additional control options for actions like aiming and firing in shooters or activating special abilities in MOBAs.
Despite its slim profile, the REDMAGIC 10 Air houses a substantial 6,000mAh battery that delivers up to 28 hours of general use. When it’s time to recharge, the 80W fast charging support means you’ll be back in action quickly. This combination of battery capacity and charging speed seems particularly well-suited for gamers who might find themselves away from power sources during tournaments or travel.
The REDMAGIC 10 Air integrates AI functionality in practical ways, including real-time voice translation and AI-enhanced photo editing. These features extend the device’s utility beyond gaming, making it a more versatile daily driver than some of the more gaming-focused devices I’ve come across previously.
Design-wise, the phone features a matte metal frame with anti-glare etched glass that should help with both durability and reducing fingerprints – a common issue with glossy gaming phones. The customisable RGB lighting adds that gaming aesthetic while also serving practical purposes for notifications and status indicators.
The programmable Magic Key on the side offers quick access to functions like real-time translation and camera access, adding an extra layer of convenience that could be particularly useful during gameplay.
