LOGITECH G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX Review – Better Than the Original?

The original LOGITEH G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 (check my review here) is an awesome, lightweight, wireless gaming mouse and is one of the best gaming mouse Logitech G has to offer. Its focus on precision and performance make it a standout choice for pro gamers who have been on the Logitech G ship for a while.

While its ambidextrous design serves many gamers well, some right-handed users have been yearning for something more ergonomic. Enter the LOGITECH G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX – a reimagined version that maintains and even improves the original’s impressive performance while introducing a right-handed ergonomic design.

LOGITECH G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX REVIEW – DESIGN AND FEATURES

The DEX version brings significant changes to the table. Gone is the symmetrical design of the original SUPERLIGHT 2, replaced with an asymmetrical, right-handed layout that’s been crafted with direct input from esports players and professional gamers who play competitive games like Valorant and Counter-Strike. The mouse feels noticeably larger than its predecessor, which is fantastic news for gamers with bigger hands who found the original SUPERLIGHT 2 a bit cramped during extended gaming sessions.

Available in Pink, Black, or White variants (my review unit is the Pink one here), the mouse maintains a clean, professional aesthetic. What’s truly remarkable is that despite the larger size and ergonomic reshaping, Logitech has managed to keep the weight at an impressive 60 grams. This sweet spot in weight offers the perfect balance – light enough for effortless gliding but with just enough weight to maintain precise control during those crucial gaming moments.

The DEX isn’t just about ergonomic improvements though. Logitech has packed it with significant technical upgrades, starting with the upgraded HERO 2 sensor. Boasting 44,000 DPI, 888 IPS, and 88G acceleration, this sensor delivers even more exceptional tracking accuracy, especially during rapid movements and quick flicks – essential for competitive FPS games like Valorant and Counter-Strike.

One of the standout features is the increased polling rate, which now reaches up to 8,000Hz. While this offers crazy fast response times, it’s worth noting that such high polling rates demand substantial system resources (beefier PC needed) and significantly impact battery life. For most users, the 2,000Hz setting provides an excellent balance between performance and practicality in my experience, offering remarkable stability and consistency in gaming scenarios. Obviously for professional gamers, any advantage you can get is better for winning, so they would definitely want to boost it to 8,000Hz whenever they can.

Speaking of battery life, Logitech claims up to 95 hours on a single charge, though this figure drops considerably when using the 8,000Hz polling rate. For users with the Powerplay wireless charging system (sold separately), this becomes less of a concern, but it’s something to consider if you’re planning to use the mouse in its maximum performance setting.

The Lightforce switches deserve special mention. They provide a satisfying, crispy click with excellent feedback, striking a perfect balance between tactility and speed. The bounce-back is quick and consistent, which is crucial for rapid-fire clicking in various gaming scenarios.

LOGITECH G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX REVIEW CONCLUSION

LOGITECH G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX successfully builds upon its predecessor’s foundation while addressing the ergonomic needs of right-handed gamers. The combination of the new HERO 2 sensor, impressive polling rate options, and thoughtful ergonomic design makes it a compelling choice for serious gamers, especially those who found the original SUPERLIGHT 2 too small for comfort – or you just want a better, upgraded version of your SUPERLIGHT 2 mouse.

LOGITECH G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX is available now and retails for A$299.95 at Australian retailers and Logitech G website.
