THINKWARE ARC 800 Launches in Australia with 4K Recording, AI Night Vision and Smart Parking Features

THINKWARE has officially launched its new ARC 800 dash cam in Australia, bringing 4K UHD recording, Sony STARVIS 2 imaging, AI-powered Night Vision, and intelligent parking surveillance to drivers looking for better protection on the road and while parked.

The new dual-channel dash cam is available through Autobarn and Supercheap Auto for A$849.99, with a special offer that allows eligible Australian customers to receive an LTE module when registering their purchase.

The ARC 800 features a 4K UHD front camera paired with a 1080p Full HD rear camera. Its front camera uses a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, which is designed to capture more detail in challenging lighting conditions, particularly at night. Both cameras also support Dual HDR processing to help balance exposure when recording scenes with bright headlights, shadows, or strong sunlight.

Drivers can also switch to 2K QHD recording at up to 60 frames per second, which could be useful for capturing smoother footage when travelling at higher speeds. The front camera offers a 146-degree field of view, while the rear camera covers 125 degrees.

It comes with AI Night Vision technology, which uses AI-based image processing to improve visibility during Parking Mode. According to THINKWARE, the technology can help reveal details that conventional dash cams might struggle to capture in darker environments. This could be particularly useful when your car is parked overnight in poorly lit areas, where recording an incident is one thing, but capturing enough detail to identify what happened is another.

We’ve previously reviewed the THINKWARE U3000 PRO that has 4K recording quality and dual RADAR parking surveillance. It will be interesting to see how the ARC 800’s AI Night Vision performs in real-world conditions, especially compared to footage captured by the U3000 PRO.

To enable Smart Parking Mode, the ARC 800 needs to be connected through a hardwiring cable or compatible OBD-II power cable. This allows the dash cam to continue monitoring the vehicle even after the engine has been switched off, capturing impacts and other activity while parked. Professional installation is recommended, particularly for drivers who aren’t comfortable working with their vehicle’s electrical system.

Unlike the U3000 PRO, which relies on a smartphone app for accessing its settings and recordings, the ARC 800 comes with a built-in 2.3-inch touchscreen.

Other features include built-in GPS for recording speed and location information, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Safety Camera Alerts. The ARC 800 also supports microSD cards with capacities of up to 512GB, which should provide plenty of room for high-resolution recordings.

For drivers who want to monitor their vehicles remotely, the ARC 800 supports THINKWARE CONNECTED through an LTE module. This adds connected vehicle monitoring capabilities beyond what a traditional standalone dash cam can provide.

Interestingly, THINKWARE is offering eligible Australian buyers an LTE module when they register their ARC 800 through its Australian website. However, connected functionality may still require a compatible mobile data service, so it’s worth checking any additional costs before relying on these features.

The ARC 800 has also received a 2026 Red Dot Award in recognition of its design and technology.
