TEAMGROUP has announced its new ACE 8K MicroSDXC Memory Card, targeting creators using action cameras, 360-degree cameras, drones and other compact imaging devices where sustained recording performance matters.
Despite the ACE 8K naming, the main highlight is actually support for smooth 4K video recording at up to 120fps. That should make the card particularly relevant for devices from brands such as Insta360 and DJI, where higher frame rates are increasingly common for action footage, slow-motion video and 360-degree recording.
The ACE 8K carries A2 Application Performance Class, U3 and V30 ratings, with TEAMGROUP quoting sequential read speeds of up to 160MB/s and write speeds of up to 110MB/s when paired with a compatible professional card reader. One thing worth noting is that the 128GB model has a slightly lower maximum write speed of 90MB/s, while the 256GB, 512GB and 1TB versions can reach the full 110MB/s figure.
Thanks to those specs, ACE 8K is definitely suitable for more than simply storing photos. The V30 rating guarantees a minimum sustained write speed intended for video workloads, while the A2 rating is designed to provide better application performance on compatible devices.
For creators working with action cameras or drones, storage capacity can disappear surprisingly quickly once you start shooting higher-resolution footage at high frame rates. TEAMGROUP is offering the ACE 8K in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities, giving you some flexibility depending on how much footage you normally capture before transferring it elsewhere.
TEAMGROUP has specifically positioned the card for devices such as professional gimbal cameras, 360-degree cameras, action cameras and drones. The company has also conducted compatibility testing with a number of imaging devices, although actual transfer speeds and recording performance will naturally depend on factors such as the camera, codec, bitrate, firmware and card interface being used.
I think that distinction is important with memory cards because the big read-speed number on the packaging isn’t necessarily what determines whether a camera can reliably record demanding footage. Consistent write performance and compatibility with the device you’re actually using matter much more when recording long clips or high-frame-rate video.
The ACE 8K also comes with protection against water, shock, X-rays, electrostatic discharge and extreme temperatures. TEAMGROUP says the card has undergone internal laboratory validation, and it is backed by a lifetime warranty in most markets.
TEAMGROUP has also used more environmentally conscious inks and colouring technologies for the printing on the card itself as part of the company’s broader sustainability efforts.

Instead of carrying footage around after a shoot, this is the storage that sits directly inside the camera while you’re capturing it.
TEAMGROUP hasn’t announced Australian pricing or local availability for the ACE 8K MicroSDXC Memory Card yet. The company says sales information will be available through its major distribution channels, with the card offered in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities.
