OSRS’s Crack the Clue 3 is Finally Solved

Note: This is a guest post written by Larry Anderson – Everyone now has the chance to get the rewards from Old School RuneScape’s Clack the Clue 3.

Crack the Clue III emerged as a captivating clue-seeker event released on 21 September 2022. Successfully navigating this intricate event would reward players with the coveted Robes of Ruin and the unique infinite money bag. Setting it apart from its predecessors, Crack the Clue I & II, the brainchildren of Mod Mat K, the legendary player Woox masterfully designed this third installment. Woox is a renowned figure in the OSRS community, notably recognized for his diligent efforts in decoding Mod Mat K’s intricate puzzles.

On 23 September 2022, the event kick-started with the simultaneous release of four intriguing clues. As time progressed, additional hints were sporadically given to aid players in their quest. The culmination of this event occurred on 21 June 2023 when the final, decisive hint was revealed, leading to the grand solution.

Who is Woox?

Woox is a luminary figure within the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape communities. He’s acclaimed for his exceptional PvM skills and celebrated for achieving numerous firsts in high-level boss encounters. Often, Woox has demonstrated his prowess by defeating formidable bosses using unorthodox strategies or facing them under rigorous conditions, and you might know his name from the Woox Walking that incredibly speeds up your Vorkath kills. One of his most notable feats includes soloing the Chambers of Xeric, an OSRS raid typically designed for group participation, where he succeeded and set multiple records.

However, beyond his PvM accolades, Woox’s contributions to the enigmatic Crack the Clue challenges are especially commendable. His relentless drive and unmatched dedication to deciphering these intricate in-game mysteries are noteworthy.

Rewards

You can obtain two cosmetic rewards from Crack the Clue 3: the Infinite Money Bag and the Robes of Ruin set, composed of the hood, bottom, top, glove, socks, and cloak. While the robe set is fully cosmetic, the infinite money bag is an interactable item that will let you withdraw and generate 1 OSRS GP every time you click on it.

Quick Guide

Now that the clue has been solved, it takes almost no effort to solve it and rip the rewards for yourself; almost as simple as searching OSRS accounts for sale. All you need to do is dig in a specific location in the Lumbridge swamp while holding a combination of 28 items in your inventory and then head to the Varrock west bank to perform a series of emotes. You can do this as a free-to-play and on a members’ account. The items are easy to obtain if you’re an ironman and cheap to purchase from the grand exchange if you’re playing on a regular account.

Since it doesn’t matter whether you have items equipped, you should equip an amulet of glory, the ring of wealth, or any other teleportation items that are equipable for easy banking and transportation. If you’re a f2p, a skull sceptre or chronicle can help you since they are both equippable and will get you relatively close to Varrock’s west bank. Fill your inventory with the following items:

  • Water rune
  • Chaos rune
  • Mind tiara
  • Fire tiara
  • Spade
  • Hammer
  • Feather
  • Blue dye
  • Purple dye
  • Fish food
  • Poisoned fish food
  • Iron Chainbody
  • Leather cowl
  • Steel Scimitar
  • Amulet of Defence
  • Emerald Amulet
  • Steel Arrows
  • Bowl
  • Pie Shell
  • Redberry pie
  • Redberries
  • Potato
  • Raw beef
  • Raw rat meat
  • Raw sardines
  • Shrimps
  • Tin ore
  • Red bead

With all these items in your inventory, go to the Lumbridge Swamp and head towards the water altar. Position yourself on the tile east of the altar between the square rock, the longer-shaped rock, and the tree, and click on the spade in your inventory to dig. You will get a message popup informing you if you’ve completed this step.

Use your preferred teleportation means and go to Varrock’s west bank and climb down in the basement. Stay near the gates and do the following emotes in this specific order:

  • Panic
  • No
  • Beckon
  • Laugh
  • Shrug
  • Cry
  • Spin
  • Yes
  • Think
  • Dance
  • Blow Kiss
  • Wave
  • Bow
  • Panic
  • Headbang
  • Jump for Joy
  • Angry

If performed correctly, you will be teleported inside the area guarded by the gates, where you will need to search the chests until you find all the pieces of the outfit and the infinite money bag.
