OPPO launches the R9s with extra wide F1.7 aperture camera

OPPO R9s

UPDATE: We have the OPPO R9s Full Review, make sure to check it out!

The OPPO R9 (check out our OPPO R9 review) was launched mid-last year with the focus of being a smartphone with one of the best selfie cameras out there. A 16 Megapixel front facing camera and ISOCELL technology lets you capture yourself as best as it can be.

OPPO R9s now has an all new bells and whistles on the rear camera: a brand new SONY IMX398 sensor developed exclusively for OPPO with an extra wide F1.7 aperture.

As a result, you will be able to take faster, better with lower noise shots even in low lit situations. The new Dual PDAF (phase detection autofocus) technology equipped in the rear camera also offers 40% focus speeds. Assuming we get a review device, stay tuned to see more photos taken by the OPPO R9s here at Craving Tech and our social media channels.

The front camera seems to feature the same lens as the OPPO R9 (16 Megapixel, F2.0) but should still be a good lens to capture selfies.

Specs wise, the OPPO R9s will be powered by Qualcomm octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM and 64GB of expandable storage with 3,010mAh battery and OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge technology. No OPPO’s Super VOOC (which can fully charge a phone in 15 minutes) yet, so we may have to wait a bit longer for it (perhaps OPPO R11?)

Touch Access (the fingerprint unlocking) also gets an upgrade, along with a six-string antenna design that operates on six frequency ranges. OPPO keeps the design clean and minimalist.

If you want to see how fast the original Touch Access is on the OPPO R9, check out my short video here:

According to OPPO, the new Touch Access offers an increase in the recognition rate by up to 40 per cent, even with wet fingers. We definitely can’t wait to be amazed all over again.
