Razer Barracuda V2 Pro launches with Hybrid ANC, THX Spatial Audio+ and up to 70 hours of battery life

Razer has announced the Razer Barracuda V2 Pro, its latest premium wireless gaming headset designed for gamers who want something they can use beyond their gaming setup. With Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), THX Spatial Audio+, simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connectivity, and up to 70 hours of battery life, the new headset aims to be just as useful for everyday listening as it is for gaming.

The Barracuda series has always been about offering gaming-grade audio without necessarily looking like a traditional gaming headset. The new Barracuda V2 Pro continues that approach, with a more travel-friendly design and a few interesting upgrades that should appeal to gamers who regularly switch between their PC, console, and smartphone.

We’ve reviewed the original Barracuda Pro here in case you want to find out more about this series.

At the heart of the Razer Barracuda V2 Pro are Razer’s TriForce Bio-Cellulose 40mm drivers, designed to deliver more natural audio with clearer highs, detailed mids, and controlled bass. According to Razer, the new drivers also help minimise distortion, which should benefit both gaming and music listening.

For PC gamers, the headset supports THX Spatial Audio+ with 7.1.4 virtual surround sound. Unlike traditional 7.1 surround sound, this adds four virtual overhead channels to create a more three-dimensional listening experience.

The headset also features Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation, using both inward-facing and outward-facing microphones to reduce unwanted background noise. This should be handy when gaming in a noisy environment or when using the headset during a commute or flight.

The Barracuda V2 Pro can also handle 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 6.0 connections simultaneously so you can switch to using it on mobile devices. Through Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, gamers can enjoy low-latency audio on their PC or compatible console while remaining connected to their smartphone over Bluetooth. This means you could be playing a game and still receive a phone call without having to disconnect your headset.

There’s also a dedicated Razer SmartSwitch button for quickly switching between wireless modes.

The Barracuda V2 Pro also supports a variety of gaming platforms, including PC, consoles, and handheld devices, although the connection method varies depending on the platform.

It’s powered by dual-mode microphone system. When gaming at your desk, you can attach the detachable boom microphone for clearer voice communication with teammates. When you’re heading outside or simply don’t want a microphone sticking out of your headset, you can remove it and rely on the integrated beamforming microphones instead.

Both microphone configurations support AI-powered noise cancellation, which Razer says helps filter background noise so your voice can be heard more clearly.

Despite packing quite a few features, the Razer Barracuda V2 Pro weighs just 285g. The headset has a foldable, lay-flat design, making it easier to slip into a backpack when travelling. Razer has also included built-in storage for the wireless USB dongle, which is a small but welcome touch considering how easy those little receivers are to misplace.

Memory foam ear cushions and a padded headband are designed to provide comfort during longer gaming sessions, although actual comfort will naturally depend on the fit.

Battery life is another strong selling point, with Razer claiming up to 70 hours with ANC disabled, or up to 50 hours with ANC enabled.

That should be more than enough for several days of gaming and everyday listening without constantly reaching for a charging cable. The headset also supports USB-C charging, with a quick 15-minute charge reportedly providing approximately six hours of use.

Razer Barracuda V2 Pro Australian pricing and availability

The Razer Barracuda V2 Pro is available in Australia for $329.95 AUD through Razer’s official Australian online store.
