Nespresso is bringing its latest coffee machine to Australian homes and the timing aligns perfectly with how people are approaching their daily caffeine fix. New research from McCrindle shows that 58% of Australian coffee drinkers are now making coffee at home to save money, which explains why there’s such strong demand for machines that can deliver café-quality results without the café price tag.
The Vertuo Up represents Nespresso’s answer to this shift, combining advanced brewing technology with a design that won’t dominate your kitchen bench. It’s built around the brand’s Vertuo Centrifusion system, which uses high-speed spinning combined with water infusion to extract flavour and create that characteristic velvety crema on top. The machine works with over 30 different coffee blends across seven cup sizes, ranging from a short ristretto through to a full carafe for when you need to caffeinate multiple people at once.
Speed matters when you’re rushing out the door in the morning, and this is where the Vertuo Up delivers something worth noting. The heat-up time sits at just three seconds, which means you can go from pressing the button to brewing almost immediately. For anyone who’s stood around waiting for their machine to warm up while watching the clock, that’s a practical improvement.
The machine also includes Wi-Fi connectivity that links to the Nespresso Smart App, allowing you to adjust brewing temperature and cup length based on your preferences. The app also provides recipe ideas and helps track machine maintenance, which takes some of the guesswork out of keeping everything running smoothly.
A dedicated Coffee Creations button has been added to this model, designed specifically for milk-based drinks and over-ice recipes. This function delivers a more concentrated extraction, ensuring the coffee flavour holds up when you’re adding milk or pouring over ice. It’s a small detail that makes a noticeable difference if you’re someone who regularly makes lattes or iced coffee at home.

Design-wise, the Vertuo Up comes in four colours: Ink Black, Ocean Blue, Pearl White, and Graphite. The silhouette is compact, and the 1.4-litre water tank rotates to suit different kitchen layouts while making refills easier. There’s also a lever mechanism for inserting and removing capsules, and the capsule basket holds up to 18 espressos or 13 mugs before needing to be emptied.
Pricing sits at $349 for the machine on its own, or $439 if you want it bundled with a Nespresso Aeroccino milk frother. That positions it as an accessible entry point into premium home coffee equipment, particularly for people looking to upgrade from basic models without spending significantly more.
But if you want the most premium experience available, I’d highly recommend the Nespresso Vertuo Lattissima or Vertuo Creatista machines that I reviewed in the past. I’m still using the Vertuo Creatista machine actually for around 3 years now.
The Nespresso Vertuo Up will be available from 20 April through Nespresso’s official channels, offering Australian coffee drinkers another option for recreating café-style drinks without leaving home. For those looking to balance quality with budget-conscious choices, the machine arrives at a moment when home brewing continues to gain ground across the country.
