INIU Cougar P63 Laptop Power Bank Review – Smallest 25000mAh 100W Charger that delivers

Power banks that claim to charge a laptop at full speed are everywhere these days, but most of them come with a catch. Either the wattage is there but the thing is the size of a brick, or it’s nice and compact but tops out at a measly 65W that barely keeps up with your laptop while you’re using it. The INIU Cougar P63 promises to solve that trade-off: a 25,000mAh battery with true 100W output, in what INIU claims is the smallest footprint you’ll find at that capacity.

I’ve been using it as my go-to charger for my MacBook Pro over the past little while, and here’s how it held up.

Thoughtful Design Touches

Out of the box, the P63 doesn’t try too hard to impress you visually, but a couple of small design decisions stood out immediately.

The detachable USB-C cable doubles as a carry band/holder, wrapping around the unit itself. So, this means no more digging through your bag for a separate cable, and no more worrying about a permanently attached cable fraying or snapping from repeated use. It just clips onto the power bank and travels with it. I found this on INIU’s other products too. Check out my INIU SnapGo Air Magnetic Power Bank review if you are in the market for power banks. In general, I appreciate thoughtfulness in design decisions and the GoCord (yes it has a name) is definitely appreciated.

The other thing I really love is the percentage indicator on the front. Instead of the usual four-LED-dot guessing game most power banks give you, the P63 shows you an actual number. No more guess work.

Thick and Heavy-ish, But Expected

I am on the fence in calling it heavy (hence the -ish), because it is somewhat heavy, but it is not heavy enough to be annoying. Also, when you’re cramming a 25,000mAh cell capable of pushing 100W into that shell, the physics has to go somewhere. Compared to other 25,000mAh power banks I’ve come across, this one is still noticeably smaller, so INIU’s claims about miniaturisation do check out. It’s just not going to disappear into your pocket.

Can It Actually Power a MacBook Pro?

Short answer: yes. I put it to the real test, charging my MacBook Pro from the P63’s 100W output and tracked exactly how it performed along the way:

TimeLaptop %Power Bank %
12:40pm4%86%
12:52pm25%66%
1:03pm42%48%
1:11pm54%35%
1:33pm78%1%

The P63 pushed my MacBook Pro from 4% up to 78% in under an hour, a solid chunk of charge for a laptop that would otherwise be tethered to a wall.

That said, it’s worth setting expectations here: the power bank itself dropped from 86% down to 1% in the process, and it hadn’t even started the session fully charged. This isn’t really a fault of the P63. A 25,000mAh battery converts down to roughly 92Wh of raw capacity, and once you factor in voltage-conversion losses pushing that up to 100W USB-C output, you’re realistically getting somewhere in the high-60s to low-70s Wh range delivered to your device. My 14-inch MacBook Pro’s battery sits at 69.6Wh, so asking the P63 to take it from empty to 100% is asking for close to its entire deliverable capacity in one go. Don’t go in expecting a full top-up from zero, but definitely enough juice to keep your laptop going for a good while.

Charging the Power Bank Itself

Charging took a while for me, several hours actually, but that’s entirely on me, not the P63. I charged mine using a standard phone charger, which wasn’t putting out anywhere near the wattage this power bank actually needs to recharge quickly. INIU’s own specs state that with a proper 65W charger, the P63 will refill from empty in around 80-90 minutes. Using a smaller charger not rated for that kind of output stretched it out to somewhere in the 4-5 hour range instead.

The lesson here: don’t assume any USB-C charger will do. If you want the P63 to live up to its quoted recharge time, you’ll need to pair it with a proper 65W (or higher) USB-C PD charger, ideally the same kind of charger you’d use for a laptop, not a phone. It won’t come bundled with one, so budget for that if you don’t already have a compatible charger lying around. INIU Cougar P63 Review – Final Thoughts

The INIU Cougar P63 does exactly what it says on the box: it charges a MacBook Pro at wall speed, from a package that’s smaller than you’d expect for a 25,000mAh, 100W power bank. The little design details, like the cable-as-carry-band and the actual percentage display, show that INIU put real thought into how this thing gets used day to day.

The trade-offs are the ones you’d expect from cramming this much capacity and wattage into a compact shell: it’s noticeably thick and somewhat heavy, and based on my testing, don’t expect a full 0-100% laptop charge out of one sitting. And if you only have a short time to charge your power bank after you use it, don’t make the mistake I did and reach for whatever phone charger is closest when it’s time to recharge the bank itself. In fact, if a short charging time is important for you, it might be worth budgeting for something properly rated for 65W or more to charge your P63 to avoid waiting a lot longer than you need to.
