On a surprising & exciting news today, Facebook unveiled the new Facebook.com web design with the update coming later this year.
The new design (FB5) says goodbye to Facebook’s well-known Dark Blue theme and will embrace more minimalist, flat, modern look. There is also (of course) Dark Mode for both the web and the app.

The upcoming Facebook web redesign is powered by React and Relay JavaScript Framework/Application, though you as a user might not be able to appreciate the impact. However, expect a more responsive and smoother experience across the site.
The app update should be here any moment. I kept on refreshing the App Store but it may take a day or two before the update shows up.
