Twelve South BookArc Flex Review – A simple, beautiful laptop stand

The BookArc Flex, initially marketed as a MacBook stand, proves to be a versatile solution accommodating various laptop brands. Through my personal testing, I explored its compatibility with different Windows laptops, including the sleek 13-inch Dell XPS 13-9370 resembling a MacBook Air and the robust GIGABYTE AORUS 15G, a thick, gaming laptop.

It’s a simple, stunning, beautiful, vertical laptop stand that doesn’t take up much space on your desk.

This stand boasts a simplistic yet stunning vertical design that seamlessly integrates into any workspace without occupying much desk space. The primary function of the BookArc Flex is to serve as a storage solution for your laptop when not in use. However, its utility extends beyond mere storage; it allows you to run your laptop with the lid closed, connected to an external monitor. This practical feature, combined with peripherals like a mouse and keyboard (in my case, the Logitech Wave Keys and Logitech Vertical Lift) connected via Bluetooth, facilitates efficient work without sacrificing desk space.

The all-metal arc design of the BookArc Flex not only screams elegance but also securely cradles your laptop. Soft, rubbery materials at contact points prevent scratches, ensuring the safety of your device. The absence of a complex clamp mechanism simplifies the user experience – just slide your laptop into the arc, and the stand’s supporting arcs naturally converge due to the laptop’s weight.

It’s noteworthy that the BookArc Flex accommodates laptops up to 16 inches with a thickness of less than 1 inch. This versatility ensures compatibility with a range of laptops, enhancing its appeal to a broader audience and also somewhat future-proof.

My personal experience with the BookArc Flex has revolutionised my desk setup. Utilizing it with my Dell XPS work laptop and HyperX Armada 27 monitor, I’ve reclaimed valuable desk space by positioning the laptop vertically. This, in combination with my keyboard, mouse, SteelSeries Alias Pro microphone, and an additional laptop, has significantly optimised my workspace.

Available in three stylish colours – White, Black, and Chrome – the BookArc Flex’s Chrome variant, which I had the privilege of reviewing, seamlessly blends into any interior design. Its classy aesthetic and robust build contribute not only to functionality but also to the overall visual appeal of your workspace.

The Twelve South BookArc Flex has proven to be an indispensable addition to my desk, offering both practicality and style. It retails for A$89.95.
