MacBook Air Wallet Review

MacBook Air Wallet Review case

The MacBook Air Wallet is a MacBook Air case made by WaterField Designs to carry your 11″ or 13″ MacBook Air, along with some accessories and travel related items. The sample I have is the 13″ (13.6″) MacBook Air Wallet for the MacBook Air 13″ model.

So should you get the MacBook Air Wallet as your primary MacBook Air case/bag? You bet! Let’s find out why.

MacBook Air Wallet

When you travel and you want to bring the MacBook Air with you, you should be ready for occasional bumps during the travel (either soft or hard bumps) and also for long hours on the road. That’s why you need a bag that is compact and light to carry, equipped with padded protection for the MacBook Air, but also a few extra pockets to carry a power charger (to say the least) and other crucial accessories. WaterField Designs’ MacBook Air Wallet fits into this scenario PLUS it also looks really stylish and elegant.

The stylish-looking MacBook Air Wallet comes in different colors: Black, Copper, Flame, Green, Pearl, and Pine. Mine is the Black but get the color that suits your style. No matter what color you choose, the brown leather on each side of the case creates a distinct look.

The MacBook Air Wallet is secured with a sturdy zipper rather than a Velcro based solution. At first glance, the MacBook Air Wallet feels quite large – this is because the MacBook Air sits deeply inside and not on the edge of the case. This gives an extra minor protection to your MacBook.

I like the extra soft padded interior where you supposed to put the MacBook Air in. This extra layer gives me a peace of mind knowing that my MacBook Air will remain scratch-free. This is a good design and better than the Belkin Honeycomb Clamshell that I reviewed earlier (it didn’t have this inner soft padded surface).

There is also an open pocket in front of the case for a quick slide in-and-out (documents or magazines) without having to open the case.

There are inner pockets (of different sizes) inside the MacBook Air Wallet to store various accessories. I brought a charger, a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, an RJ45 cable, a micro USB to VGA adapter, some papers, and stationeries without any problems. According to the product page (and as you can see from the video), the MacBook Air Wallet has:

Three scratch free, lightly padded internal pockets keep your MacBook Air, SuperDrive, power adapter, and accessories separate and safe. A stretchy back pocket provides all the storage you need for your complete mobile office. Impact-resistant inserts further protect the MacBook Air and other accessories.

These will make the MacBook Air Wallet to look bulky, of course, but nevertheless, these important accessories can indeed fit inside the case easily.

There is also an option to add a strap (which is highly recommended) so you can carry it on your shoulder. Or take out the strap and store it inside a bigger travel case.

MacBook Air Wallet Review Conclusion

MacBook Air Wallet Review

Overall, I really love the WaterField Designs MacBook Air Wallet – it looks stylish (I often use it just to carry my stuffs, without the MacBook Air in it) and at the same time has become my ultimate MacBook Air travelling case. It stores my MacBook Air 13″ safely while at the same time allows me to carry extra stuffs for travelling. The MacBook Air Wallet is not the most compact case available but it allows flexibility in carrying your mouse, charger, cables, and other accessories inside. If you travel constantly while carrying your MacBook Air, I’d highly recommend the MacBook Air Wallet!
