D-Link launches DUF-E01 14-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station with 8K Display Support in Australia and New Zealand

D-Link Australia and New Zealand has announced the DUF-E01, a 14-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station that aims to solve the persistent problem of port-starved laptops. The new dock transforms any Thunderbolt 4-equipped laptop into a complete workstation through a single cable connection, delivering ultra-fast data transfer, multi-display output, gigabit networking, and up to 60W laptop charging.

With my work laptop (and probably yours too) only having 2 USB-C ports (Dell XPS 13), this docking station is godsend.

Like I said, modern laptops continue to shed ports in favour of slimmer designs, leaving professionals managing a tangle of cables and adapters just to connect their essential peripherals. The DUF-E01 addresses this by expanding one Thunderbolt 4 connection into 14 usable ports without requiring driver installation on most modern operating systems.

According to Graeme Reardon, Managing Director of D-Link Australia and New Zealand, the dock targets users who rely on their laptop as their primary computer. “One cable in, and you have 14 ports, three screens, gigabit networking and your laptop is charging. That’s the kind of seamless experience professionals expect from a premium docking station,” Reardon explained.

The dock centres around a single Thunderbolt 4 upstream port that handles data, video, power and device communication simultaneously at speeds up to 40Gbps. That bandwidth represents four times the speed of USB 3.2 Gen 2, providing the headroom needed for demanding peripherals like NVMe drives, video capture cards and high-speed audio interfaces without creating bottlenecks during heavy workloads. The Thunderbolt 4 port also supports daisy-chaining additional Thunderbolt devices for users who need even more expansion and speed.

Display capabilities are particularly robust, with support for up to three independent screens simultaneously. The DisplayPort 1.4 output handles resolutions up to 8K at 30Hz or 4K at 120Hz, suited to high-resolution creative work like video editing, for example. The HDMI 2.1 port delivers 4K at 60Hz for mainstream professional monitors, and the Thunderbolt 4 port adds a third video output. Users can configure any combination of extended or mirrored modes across all three displays depending on their workflow requirements. Thow

Power delivery reaches up to 60W through the Thunderbolt 4 upstream port, covering most business ultrabooks and consumer laptops at full charge speed during use (my Dell XPS 13 only needs 45W). This single-cable approach means displays, peripherals, network, audio and charging all run through one connection, making docking and undocking as simple as connecting or removing a single cable from the laptop.

The dedicated RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port delivers up to 1,000Mbps ensuring consistent latency and performance should you need it.

Both the full-size SD and microSD card slots operate at SD 4.0 specification, with transfer speeds reaching up to 985MB/s and support for cards up to 2TB capacity. Photographers and videographers get direct, high-speed access to card media without needing a separate reader (and having to plug things in and out), handling high-bitrate video files and large RAW image sets quickly.

The aluminium alloy casing serves a practical purpose beyond aesthetics, acting as a passive heatsink that draws heat away from internal components during sustained workloads without requiring fans. The detachable magnetic base allows the dock to sit flat or stand vertically depending on desk space and cable management preferences, and the construction targets years of daily professional use.

The DUF-E01 requires a host device with a Thunderbolt 4 port for full functionality. While the USB-C connector is physically compatible with many devices, complete features including multi-display output, 40Gbps transfer speeds and Power Delivery require Thunderbolt 4 certification. The dock is compatible with macOS and Windows operating systems that support Thunderbolt 4.

The DUF-E01 14-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station is available now from D-Link Australia website for AU$599.95 (RRP).
