CORSAIR has just announced the VANGUARD AIR 99 WIRELESS, a low-profile optical-mechanical gaming keyboard that brings together competitive-grade performance and productivity features in a remarkably slim package. This 99% form factor keyboard measures just 18mm in height, making it one of the thinnest keyboards CORSAIR has ever produced while maintaining the performance specs serious gamers demand.
I’ve always loved low-profile keyboards not just because they look cool, but also more ergonomic to press.
The keyboard comes equipped with CORSAIR OPX optical low-profile switches that deliver a short 1.5mm actuation distance. These switches use infrared light to detect keypresses, which eliminates mechanical debounce delays for faster response times. Combined with 8,000Hz hyper-polling in both wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes, along with FlashTap SOCD handling, the VANGUARD AIR 99 WIRELESS looks to deliver the kind of responsiveness competitive players need.
Connectivity options include tri-mode support with 2.4GHz SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS v2, Bluetooth, and wired USB-A connection. The keyboard also supports multiplatform compatibility across PC, Mac, and consoles, giving users flexibility regardless of their preferred gaming platform.
Then, there is the integration with Elgato’s Stream Deck ecosystem. The keyboard features six programmable SD-keys that can be mapped through the Elgato Stream Deck app, allowing users to execute complex commands or sequences with a single keypress. This works for in-game actions like setting round buys or managing inventory, but extends beyond gaming into productivity tasks. Users can initiate Teams calls, adjust mic levels, switch tools in creative applications, or change backgrounds without having to alt-tab away from what they’re doing.
The Virtual Stream Deck feature takes this further by letting users create customisable on-screen shortcut menus that can be summoned with a single keypress. The Elgato Marketplace offers hundreds of plugins and ready-to-use custom profiles, giving users quick access to controls for their favourite applications and games.
Build quality hasn’t been overlooked either. The keyboard features an aluminium frame with premium gasket mounting for improved typing feel, along with five layers of internal sound dampening. The pre-lubricated switches and durable PBT double-shot keycaps are designed to maintain both performance and aesthetics over extended use. An integrated LCD screen adds visual functionality to the low-profile design.
The VANGUARD AIR 99 WIRELESS is available now from the CORSAIR webstore and authorised retailers worldwide.
