Aqara Camera Hub G350 arrives in Australia as World’s First Matter-Certified Camera

Aqara has officially launched the Camera Hub G350 in Australia, bringing with it a significant first for the smart home industry. This is the world’s first Matter-certified camera, and it represents a practical solution for households that have been struggling with fragmented smart home ecosystems.

The G350 tackles one of the most frustrating aspects of building a smart home setup: platform compatibility. Instead of forcing you to pick sides between Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home or SmartThings, this camera works across all of them. For anyone who’s dealt with the headache of devices that only play nice with one ecosystem, this cross-platform approach makes a real difference.

It has a triple role as an indoor security camera, Zigbee hub and Matter controller all rolled into one device. This means it can coordinate both Aqara accessories and third-party smart home devices within a single unified system, cutting down on the number of separate hubs cluttering your network.

On the security front, the G350 comes equipped with a dual-lens setup pairing a 4K wide-angle camera with a 2.5K telephoto lens. The hybrid zoom reaches up to 9× magnification, whilst the pan-tilt mechanism covers a full 360-degree view of your space. This combination gives you both sweeping room overviews and detailed close-ups when you need to check on something specific.

The camera uses AI-powered automatic tracking to follow people and pets as they move through frame, which proves handy during those moments when you need to keep an eye on what’s happening at home. The on-device intelligence filters out unnecessary notifications by detecting meaningful events and sounds, so you’re not bombarded with alerts every time a shadow passes by.

When you switch the camera off, the lens physically rotates upward and tucks away behind the device housing. It’s a great privacy feature rather than just a software toggle, which provides proper peace of mind when you don’t want the camera actively watching.

Storage flexibility is another strong point. The G350 supports local microSD cards up to 512GB, NAS backup options, and end-to-end encrypted cloud storage through Aqara HomeGuardian. You can choose the storage method that suits your preferences and privacy requirements.

The Matter certification means the G350 connects directly to Matter-enabled platforms whilst offering live view, two-way audio and alerts within those ecosystems. This future-ready interoperability ensures the camera won’t become obsolete as smart home standards continue developing.

For Apple users specifically, the G350 works with HomeKit Secure Video, adding another layer of integration for those already invested in the Apple ecosystem. The same seamless experience extends to Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings users, so everyone gets proper native support regardless of their platform preference.

The Camera Hub G350 carries an RRP of A$269 and launches on 13 April through the Aqara AU website. As a launch promotion, anyone purchasing the G350 between 13 April and 27 April receives a A$150 Aqara Australia gift voucher for future purchases, though terms and conditions apply to the offer.
