Paying homage to T’Challa (aka Black Panther), Shuri, Okoye, and King of Wakanda, you can now grab one of these special edition external hard drives from Seagate. These four new drives add to the growing special edition collections where you can also get the Spider-Man Collections, Star Wars, and more.
The release is perfectly timed with the recent movie release, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Fans of the series would want to grab one of these drives to be used as a backup drive, or to store media and data files.
The Black Panther Special Edition themselves have a good, enticing design. The drive I have here is the Shuri Special Edition (the other three are King of Wakanda, Black Panther, and Okoye).
A nice LED lighting located at the bottom front can be changed to another colour through software but if you don’t want to install anything, each drive will come with a different, default colour to match the drive’s colour theme.
A USB 3.2 Gen 1 Cable is included with the packaging and even though the product page doesn’t mention about its read/write speed, this is what I got using CrystalDiskMark – it’s plugged to my motherboard’s USB 3.2 Gen 2 port. The drive has roughly around 130MB/s reading and writing speed so that’s not bad, considering it’s not a Solid State Drive (SSD).
If you are planning to use this drive for gaming though, I’d highly recommend getting a proper, fast, external gaming drive like this Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSD (an external drive). But if you just want to use the drive as a backup drive to store the old games that you don’t play anymore, it’s more than fine.
These Black Phanter Special Edition external hard drives from Seagate come with just a single capacity option, 2TB, and retail for A$139. Available at Amazon and selected retailers here.
