MetroView now available for iPad

MetroView for iPadMetroView has become my favorite GPS application on the iPhone because of its simplicity and having the best TTS (text to speech) accent on a GPS application ever (check my MetroView review for iPhone). Now, MetroView is also specifically available for the iPad, meaning bigger and better!

Sydney, Australia, November 22, 2010 – MetroView Systems, a leading local navigation software provider, today revealed the MetroView Australia Turn-By-Turn Navigation application optimised for the iPad.

Currently the number one selling iPad application in Australia in the navigation category, the MetroView Australia Turn-By-Turn Navigation application is at present the only navigation application optimised for the iPad. Other applications on the market at the moment rely on a 2x mode which is supported by the iPad, however this simply only doubles the size of the standard iPhone application to nearly fill the iPad screen. Viewing in this mode increases the risk of picture pixelation and blurry image appearance.

The MetroView Australia Turn-By-Turn Navigation application truly takes advantage of the more abundant iPad screen. Displaying a larger interface with big buttons makes application interaction easier and crystal clear map representation provides a scenic navigation experience. Map imagery is presented in more detail allowing users to see further ahead and take in features while driving. Additionally, the optimised for iPad application includes iPad HD support, icon choices such as car plus caravan and truck, as well as increased outer zoom levels.

Available from the Apple iTunes App Store, the MetroView Australia Turn-By-Turn Navigation application optimised for the iPad includes all the regular features from MetroView including Australian male or female accented voices, full GPS functionality with iOS 4 multitasking support allowing users to switch between applications, advanced lane guidance notifying correct lane for approaching turns, as well as SpeedAlert which confirms current speed limits with visual and audible warnings.

Furthermore, MetroView provides frequent map updates with a simple plug and play capability – receive notification, connect and install update. Map data is stored on the iPad and as a result, there are no download costs for mapping or navigation. MetroView also incorporates individual house numbering based on the official Australian Government database – guaranteed to put the user at the doorstep of their destination. The MetroView Australia Turn-by-Turn application optimised for the iPad provides unrivalled GPS navigation at unbeatable value with no ongoing subscription costs.

A single application optimised for the iPad and all iPhone models, including the iPhone 4 – the MetroView Australia Turn-by-Turn application intelligently detects the device type and optimises for the particular platform.

The MetroView Australia Turn-by-Turn application optimised for the iPad is available now for AU$24.99 through the Apple iTunes App Store.
