It’s no iPad 3, it’s no iPad HD, it’s the new iPad

iPad 3

The new iPad (or also falsely rumored as the iPad 3 or iPad HD) was announced earlier today by Apple in San Fransisco. The new iPad (iPad’s 3rd Generation) unfortunately had no other surprises (apart from being named just the iPad), thanks to the rumors being passed around these past few weeks.

Nevertheless, the new iPad is still a solid tablet from Apple, especially with the bumped up resolution display.

What’s new on the iPad 3rd Generation

iPad Retina Display

The Retina Display on the new iPad features a 2048 x 1536 resolution and 44 percent greater colour saturation. If you noticed the big jump from using the old iPhone 3G/3GS into the iPhone 4, then you’ll certainly notice it on the new iPad! It’s too early to tell how good this is because photos and videos on the web alone can’t really justify this until you see it with your own eyes.

The new iPad also comes with a new A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5 MP camera that can take better quality photos compared to the previous versions and also record 1080p HD videos.

I don’t normally take photos or videos with my iPad but I can definitely see this happening once you have a family or if you like to bring your iPad around during your vacation. Or if you have the Eye-Fi wireless SD card, you can see the photos you take almost instantly on the iPad’s new resolution. That’d be amazing to show.

Also, thanks to the new 4G LTE support, you can browse quickly on the go, though unfortunately this has no effect at the moment here in Australia. The process, memory, battery life, and designs are still the same, though the new iPad is still a little bit thicker than the iPad 2.

Apart from these, unfortunately, there isn’t much to be excited about – though the new Retina Display is supposed to be the game changer. It’s not as exciting as when the iPad 2 came out, somewhat. What do you think?

As I’ll be reviewing iPad 3 (or the new iPad) accessories such as cases, docks, and so on, I have already ordered the new iPad (16 GB Wi-Fi, White version) in this morning through my media channel.
