Group video calling is now FREE on Skype

Skype

Skype is still one of the best applications for video calling and available in every platform. The group video calling feature, however, was only available in Skype Premium (i.e you had to pay for it). Well, not anymore.

As of last Monday, Microsoft announces that group video calling is now FREE for every Skype user on Windows, Mac, and Xbox One. Other platforms will follow soon (which probably means mobile platforms).

Group video calling is an awesome way to keep in touch with families or colleagues. I had a few meetings with members of our church’s Leadership Team via Google Hangout last time (since I’m not a Skype Premium user). I’ve also made a few video calls with Skype to my mom overseas. It’s quite impossible to teach her to register and use Google Hangout to be able to have group video calls with all family members. This news means that I can now organise my mom, sister, and brother to have a group video call at some stage in the future. Definitely looking forward to it.

Screen Sharing in a group video call is also free.
