EPOMAKER TH108 Review: A Silent, Feature-Packed, Customisable Keyboard

The EPOMAKER TH108 is a full-sized mechanical keyboard that offers gasket-mount construction, hot-swappable switches, and a massive 10,000mAh battery at a price that makes most competitors look overpriced. If you’ve been sitting on the fence about getting into the custom keyboard scene without spending a fortune, the TH108 deserves serious consideration.

Design and Build Quality

The TH108 has a clean look that I appreciate. There’s nothing flashy about the exterior design and that works in its favour — it looks right at home on any desk setup without screaming “gaming peripheral.” The thick ABS plastic body weighs in at 1.2kg, which is notably heavy. That bulk isn’t a flaw so much as a trade-off: the weight keeps the board planted firmly on your desk with zero flex or movement during heavy typing or gaming. Just don’t expect to be throwing this in a bag — it’s a desk keyboard through and through. Plus, it houses a big battery within, so that comes with a price.

The double-shot PBT keycaps feel solid underhand with a Cherry profile that suits both typing and gaming. Double-shot manufacturing means the legends won’t fade no matter how many hours you log on it. One issue worth flagging though: the backlighting doesn’t shine through the keycap legends. So even with RGB switched on, reading the labels in a dim room is harder than it should be. It’s a bit of oversight on an otherwise well-built board and something to keep in mind if you often type in low-light conditions.

The keyboard offers a two-stage adjustable kickstand with three typing angles — 6, 8, and 10.5 degrees — which covers most wrist preferences without needing a separate wrist rest.

Typing Sound and Feel

My review unit came with EPOMAKER Sea Salt Silent switches, and these are easily some of the quietest switches I’ve come across in decades of reviewing keyboards. They barely register a sound — not a soft thud, not a muffled click, just near-total silence. If you share a bedroom, office, or study with someone who gets irritated by keyboard noise, these switches are a game-changer.

The silence doesn’t come at the expense of feel, either. The switches have a satisfying, smooth press with 45gf actuation force — light enough for fast typing and gaming without feeling mushy. The pre-travel sits at 1.8mm, which is responsive without being hair-trigger. The fact that these come factory-lubed out of the box means there’s no rattling or scratchiness straight from the packaging.

Underpinning all of this is the gasket-mount construction with five layers of sound dampening: PORON sandwich foam, an IXPE switch pad, sound-enhancement PET film, PORON switch socket foam, and bottom silicone. The result is a deep, creamy thock on every keystroke that sounds noticeably more premium than the price tag suggests. Gasket mounting also adds a subtle flex to the typing feel that reduces finger fatigue over long sessions.

Since the board is hot-swappable with a 5-pin compatible PCB, you can swap out the Sea Salt Silent switches for any other 5-pin mechanical switch whenever the mood strikes — no soldering required.

Gaming Performance

I tested the TH108 in Overwatch competitive matches and had zero issues. In wired mode the keyboard delivers 2ms latency with a 1000Hz polling rate, which is more than adequate for most gaming scenarios. The board supports N-key rollover with full anti-ghosting, so simultaneous keypresses register accurately even during hectic team fights.

For professional, competitive gaming, wired is the way to go although I didn’t feel any issues when playing Overwatch competitively. The 2.4GHz wireless mode steps up to 5ms latency — imperceptible for most players but something professional or esports-level players would notice. That said, the TH108 isn’t built for the esports crowd and doesn’t pretend to be. For casual to mid-level competitive gaming, it handles everything without complaint even in wireless mode.

One feature I didn’t expect to appreciate as much as I did: dedicated volume up and down keys. A small thing, but being able to adjust volume instantly mid-game or during a movie without using an extra Function key is pretty convenient. Sure, a dedicated, flashy knob would be nice but that would increase the sale price of this keyboard.

Wireless and Battery Life

The TH108 operates across three connection modes — USB-C wired, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth — and can be paired with up to five devices simultaneously. So, switching between a gaming PC, a work laptop, and a tablet will be seamless here. The Bluetooth support means you can pair it to a phone or iPad for casual typing without needing the USB dongle.

Battery life is remarkable. Epomaker rates this at around 160 hours of wireless use from the 10,000mAh cell and that’s madness. The large battery is almost certainly why the keyboard carries some extra bulk and weight, but that’s a trade-off most people will happily accept for dramatically reduced charging frequency.

Software and Customisation

The TH108 doesn’t require any software to function straight out of the box and everything works plug-and-play. For those who want to go deeper, EPOMAKER’s driver software lets you remap keys, configure macros, adjust RGB lighting effects, and fine-tune sensitivity. The per-key south-facing RGB LEDs are fully customisable in terms of colour, effect, brightness, and speed.

EPOMAKER TH108 Review Conclusion

The EPOMAKER TH108 is a strong value proposition for anyone who wants gasket-mount acoustics, hot-swappable switches, and serious battery life without spending big. The Sea Salt Silent switches are among the quietest I’ve ever tested, making this an especially good pick for shared spaces. Looking for the quietest mechanical keyboard? This would be it.

Gaming performance in wired mode is solid and the build feels good for the price.

The backlighting not shining through the keycap legends is a bit of a bummer and worth flagging before you buy, particularly if you work in a dark environment. The weight and size also mean this lives on a desk permanently — not a keyboard you’ll travel with. But if you’re a budget-conscious keyboard enthusiast after a well-rounded board with an outstanding typing experience, the TH108 delivers far more than its price implies.

EPOMAKER TH108 retails for $88.99 and is available in three different colour configurations and two different switches. Available at Amazon
