Ever think that the Parallax feature in iOS7 is a good for nothing feature? I do. Probably because I’m not the type who likes to use a “noisy” background (such as a photo) as my wallpaper. I’m a minimalist.
However, hate or love it, you’ll definitely love this new app from Obvious Engineering, called Seene. It’s similar to Instagram in a way, but the app allows you to take a photo in different angles and create a nice 3D parallax effect out of it.
Video speaks a thousand words so here is the short video about Seene:
There is a short tutorial video teaching you on how to create the effect, which is really simple to do. The technology has its limitations, such as not being able to take perfect shots on some backgrounds, but it is still cool nevertheless (especially when you are looking at it from your iOS7 device).
Once you are happy with the shot, you can share it to Seene’s community (require a free account sign up) and also to your Facebook or Twitter. Friends can then go and have a look at your creation on their iPhone/iPod/iPad, or even on a desktop browser.
For example, here is a quick Seene picture I took earlier: http://seene.co/s/WJZdmZ
As you can see, it looks a bit weird (I think it depends on the background because there are some great shots on the Seene’s community without that awkwardness) but the app has just been released, so expect more updates and improvements in the near future. Fingers crossed.
Seene is a free app and available to be downloaded at the App Store
