Watch Netflix Offline is here!

Netflix Australia

Are you a Netflix subscriber? If yes, then there is good news for you today. Netflix has just announced that you can now watch your favourite shows and movies on Netflix offline on your mobile device!

We’ve heard of this upcoming feature months before but I didn’t expect it to be this soon.

The feature is only available on your mobile device (iOS and Android) through the latest app version, so make sure to update or check for an app update. Also note that not every movie can be downloaded to your mobile device and watched offline automatically. It seems that Neflix has to add them manually, which means there are high chances that you still can’t watch one of your favourite shows yet.

Downloaded movies or shows can be watched later without an internet connection, which is really handy if you are travelling away from home. You can then watch them while you are on a plane, in the hotel room, or anywhere in the world.

Titles that can be downloaded will have the Download icon on the page. You can also go to the “Available for Download” sections to find all the movies that you can watch online. Really handy when you are preparing to go for the holiday.

You can pick between “Standard” and “Higher” quality but note that it certainly won’t be in HD – which is fine if you are watching the movie on an iPhone 7 Plus, say. But probably not if you are watching it on an iPad Pro or if you are streaming it to a big TV.

Here are some movies that are available for download in Netflix Australia when I open my Netflix app (looks to be more than I thought it would be for a launch):

  • Narcos
  • Full Metal Alchemist
  • Hotel Transylvania
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
  • Stranger Things
  • The Amazing Spiderman
  • Marco Polo
  • and a lot more

The only problem is of course if you are running out of space on your phone. Hope you have some solutions ready.
