Can’t decide what to watch on Netflix? Netflix is rolling out a solution for that

I guess my wife and I are not the only one here. We spend an awfully long time trying to decide what movie to watch on Netflix. We usually start from “New Releases”, “Trending Now”, and then “Popular on Netflix”.

But there were many times where we still couldn’t decide on a movie to watch, and occasionally, gave up and did something else.

This appears to be a common problem around the world because Netflix is going to roll out a new feature called “Shuffle Play” (or “Play Something”) this year.

According to Variety, the option will appear underneath each Netflix profile and it will pick “shows or movies similar to ones you’ve watched previously; titles in genres you’ve viewed; or content you have saved in the “My List” section”.

So if you’ve been watching action movie genre, then there’s a high chance that Netflix will pick an action movie for you. But of course, I’m sure there will be more intelligence built-in behind the scene that analyses more than just a movie genre.

While this sounds great, there is no guarantee that you are going to actually like the suggested movie. Or if you live in a house where everybody is not doing Netflix right (e.g using their own profile to watch their type of movies), then this is not going to solve the problem.

It looks like the feature is going to be released in the first half of 2021, so stay tuned for that.
