You can now charge your laptop with this 65W, 20000mAh Portable Power Bank from Xiaomi

Gone were the days where you have to find a wall socket to charge your laptop. On a plane or somewhere remote? Good luck in finding one.

Xiaomi ZMI Power Bank Pro 20,000mAh has a maximum output of 65W which can power most modern laptops out there like my HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2020, MacBooks, or a Nintendo Switch.

Not only that, it also usually takes overnight to charge a power bank with a capacity this big. The power bank, however, has USB-C fast-charging at the input power up to 45W which allows it to be fully charged in three hours.

If all these make you worry, don’t be. ZMI Power Bank Pro 20,000mAh is designed to protect it from over-charging, over-discharging, short circuit, input & output overcharge, and temperature resistant.

Inside the packaging, Xiaomi has also included a USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cable.

Xiaomi ZMI Power Bank Pro 20,000mAh Review – Design & Features

Design wise, the power bank looks really good with golden blue and aluminium alloy-shell, and oxide film on the surface. It looks super luxurious and feels really good in hand like holding a premium, super-thick smartphone!

The power bank is rather fat & heavy (around 436 grams) which is understandable as it carries that big battery inside. It has two USB-A and one USB-C ports, and you can charge three devices simultaneously using these ports.

Note, however, you cannot get the maximum 65W output when you plug two or three devices on the power bank. The power output will dynamically be adjusted depending on how many devices are plugged:

  • All ports used (1x USB-C and 2x USB-A): 45W + 15W
  • 2 ports used (1x USB-C and 1x USB-A): 45W + 18W

There is also a unique feature called USB HUB function which transforms the portable battery charger into a small USB2.0 Hub which may come in handy if you are out of USB slots on your laptop. Most would probably get a separate USB Hub for this but I guess it’s good to know that you can leave your hub at home when you are carrying this power bank around.

With the 20,000mAh battery capacity and 65W maximum output, you should be able to carry it inside your carry-on baggage on flights. However, when I carried a 20,000mAh power bank from Cygnett some time ago, I was stopped at a few security checkpoints as they need to check the power bank capacity manually. They let me through of course, but it might be a hassle to some.

But if you do your work a lot on the plane and tend to run out of battery, it’s definitely worth bringing the Xiaomi ZMI Power Bank Pro 20,000mAh on board.

Xiaomi ZMI Power Bank Pro 20,000mAh Review Conclusion

Xiaomi ZMI Power Bank Pro 20,000mAh is bulky and weighs almost half a kilo, but its huge battery capacity is not just for show. With up to 65W power output, it can easily charge modern laptops even while you are using them. At times where you don’t have a wall power socket nearby, this power bank definitely comes in handy!

Not only that, it can also charge other devices like your smartphone and accessories multiple times in a day simultaneously and safely. For important, long day events like a wedding reception or conference, the power bank is definitely a saviour. It can be purchased for AU$119.95.
