Samsung has just announced the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G, bringing a solid refresh to the mid-range lineup with improved AI capabilities, camera upgrades and long-term software support that should appeal to anyone looking for reliable everyday performance without breaking the bank.
The Galaxy A57 5G leads the charge here as the most powerful A-series device Samsung has released to date. It comes with a slimmer design, beefed-up specs and what Samsung calls “Awesome Intelligence” — essentially a suite of AI-powered features that handle everyday tasks more efficiently. While I haven’t tested these phones personally yet, the spec sheet suggests Samsung is serious about bringing flagship-tier AI tools down to more accessible price points. And that’s usually true with the A-series devices.
Through One UI 8.5, both the A57 5G and A37 5G get access to Samsung’s latest AI innovations. Voice Transcription in the Voice Recorder app can transcribe and translate call recordings or convert voicemail audio into text, which could save plenty of time for students or anyone who takes meeting notes regularly.
AI Select has been made easier to access with a long press on the Edge Panel. It surfaces relevant actions directly on screen to extract text or create content without manually selecting items. The tool also supports drag and drop in Multi-Window layout, so you can move images into Samsung Notes or Photo Editor for quicker editing.
Photo editing gets some attention too. Object Eraser now delivers more natural results when removing unwanted distractions from photos — think random people in the background or clutter in your café shot. On the A57 5G specifically, Best Face supports more photos and continuous shooting, making it easier to nail group photos where everyone actually looks decent. Auto Trim also makes an appearance on the A57 5G for simpler video editing.
Circle to Search with Google has been upgraded with multi-object recognition, so you can explore multiple items in an image at once — handy if you spot an entire outfit or setup you want to research.
Both devices expand AI experiences with upgraded Bixby, which lets you control Galaxy settings and features using natural language, and Gemini, which navigates complex tasks across native Galaxy apps and select third-party apps.
The camera setup on both phones centres around a 50MP main sensor backed by an improved Image Signal Processor. Samsung says this combination delivers sharp, detailed images across various lighting conditions without needing manual adjustments.
Low-light performance has been improved with enhanced Nightography, capturing clearer photos and videos when the lights go down. The A57 5G takes things further with enhanced image processing that sharpens detail and reduces noise for clearer, more vibrant results. Fast shutter speed should help capture fleeting moments with better clarity.
Both phones benefit from AI-based subject recognition and scene optimisation to balance portraits, preserve natural skin tones and create better background separation. There’s an ultra-wide lens for group photos or landscape shots, plus a 5MP macro camera for close-up detail work.
The Galaxy A57 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery that Samsung claims can last up to two days depending on usage. Super Fast Charging 2.0 provides quick top-ups, and there’s a larger vapour chamber to help sustain performance during extended gaming or recording sessions.
The display features slimmer bezels and a bright Super AMOLED+ panel on the A57 5G, with Vision Booster on both models for better outdoor visibility. Both phones are tested to IP68 standard for water and dust resistance, which should provide some peace of mind for daily use.
