Razer Clio X is Razer’s “Gaming Speaker on the Chair” – A Speaker Head Cushion that Brings Rear Surround Sound to Your Gaming Chair

A wireless speaker built into a head cushion sounds a bit odd at first, but that might be something you probably don’t realise that you need one. Announced at PAX West 2026, the Razer Clio X is exactly that: a plush head cushion with built-in speakers that straps to your gaming chair and delivers rear surround sound without anything sitting on your head.

The cushion houses dual 38mm full-range drivers alongside 55mm passive radiators, angled toward your ears to focus the audio from behind. It runs THX Spatial Audio with acoustic widening modes, so even without a headset, you get a sense of depth and soundstage that a standard stereo setup in front of you simply can’t replicate. For games and movies where positional audio matters, that rear-channel immersion is a cool addition to a setup.

Connectivity goes through Razer HyperSpeed 2.4 GHz wireless, which keeps latency low and cuts the cable run back to your console or PC. Power comes from any USB-C PD 2.0 power bank, not included, and Razer claims up to 40 hours of use depending on your bank’s capacity. There’s also a built-in USB-C cable tucked into a rear pouch on the cushion itself, so you’ve got a wired fallback if needed (though you may dislike the cable running around on the floor). The adjustable nylon strap spans 30 to 65 cm, meaning it should fit most high-back gaming and office chairs without issue.

The Clio X works in two ways. You can run it as a standalone speaker for headset-free listening, or pair it in Surround Mode alongside an existing soundbar or 2.0/2.1 speaker setup to build out a proper rear surround system powered by THX Spatial Audio.

It should fit my Razer Enki (check my review) well too.

The Razer Clio X is available now for AU$169.95.
