The competitive gaming headset market just got more interesting with Razer’s announcement of the BlackShark V3 Pro lineup today. This new series represents a significant evolution from the beloved BlackShark V2 Pro (make sure to check my review on the headset), which currently holds the top spot on ProSettings as the most popular headset among professional gamers.
Five years is never too late and I’m sure fans of the headset would enjoy the latest update.
The BlackShark V3 Pro achieves an impressive 10-millisecond latency with the Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 technology, which represents a 33% improvement over competing headsets that typically hover around 15 milliseconds. Any microseconds in a competitive shooter is important, especially if you are a pro player.
And for the first time in BlackShark history, this series introduces hybrid Active Noise Cancellation powered by a 4-microphone system. The HyperClear Full Band microphone offers studio-grade voice capture with a 48 kHz sampling rate, ensuring callouts remain crystal clear during intense gameplay in a noisier environment like tournaments.
The audio drivers have received substantial upgrades with Gen-2 TriForce 50mm drivers featuring ultra-thin bio-cellulose diaphragms. Razer claims a 50% reduction in harmonic distortion and a 75% increase in magnet field strength for enhanced spatial accuracy when pinpointing enemy movements.
The PC version introduces THX Spatial Audio with 7.1.4 surround sound configuration, adding four virtual overhead speakers to create a more precise vertical soundstage. This represents the first implementation of this particular THX configuration.
Development involved direct collaboration with esports legends including Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Shotzzy from OpTic. NiKo shared: “With the BlackShark V3 Pro, it became easier to pick up the more subtle audio details around reloads, footsteps and position shifts that were harder to catch before.”
There are multiple platform versions here. The PC version leverages THX Spatial Audio, PlayStation models integrate with Tempest 3D Audio, and Xbox variants support Windows Sonic spatial sound. The headset supports 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, USB-A, and 3.5mm connections, with simultaneous wireless and Bluetooth connectivity for staying connected to voice chat while gaming.
Razer has also introduced two additional models: the standard BlackShark V3 with TriForce Titanium drivers at a more accessible price point, and the BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed as the entry-level wireless option. Great if you are more of a casual gamer but do not want to miss the update.
The BlackShark V3 Pro lineup is available now across all platforms, with RRP of AU$449.95 for the flagship Pro models, AU$269.95 for the standard V3, and AU$179.95 for the X HyperSpeed variants.
