PADACS Rubata 2 vs Toccata 2 Bluetooth Keyboard Case for iPad 2 – A friend saw my PADACS Rubata 2 Bluetooth keyboard Case for iPad 2 and asked me what’s the difference between Rubata 2 vs Toccata 2 case from PADACS. The price difference from PADACS product pages (PADACS Rubata 2 and PADACS Toccata 2) is one of the things although the cases look similar to one another.
Since I only have the PADACS Rubata 2 (read my PADACS Rubata 2 review), I sent an email to PADACS to ask about it. If you are looking for a Bluetooth Keyboard Case for iPad 2 and have the same question, here is the answer. Hope this comparison between the Rubata 2 and Toccata 2 helps.
PADACS Rubata 2 vs Toccata 2
The differences can be seen on this table below, which pretty much sums it all:
Rubata 2 | Toccata 2 |
Hard shell keyboard | Silicone keyboard |
83 keys | 76 keys |
Textured synthetic leather case | Smooth synthetic leather case |
Weighs 465g | Weighs 584g |
Built in keyboard | Removable keyboard |
@ and .com keys | @ and .com keys |
Up to 90 hours of charge | Up to 110 hours of charge |
Now they are only about $20 difference (Rubata 2 being more expensive than Toccata 2) but the value, I think, weighs much more. Imagine that by just adding $20 more, you can get a hard shell keyboard (the same typing experience as when you are typing on your laptop), more functional keys, weigh less, and more battery life. It’s definitely a $20 well-spent, in my opinion.
As for the question whether you should get the Rubata 2 for your iPad 2 case, well, it depends on your needs. If you rarely use your iPad 2 to type stuffs, then you may not need a Bluetooth Keyboard Case for iPad 2. If you do, this case is a gem and should not be missed!
