Logitech G Pro X 60 Review – Logitech G’s main focus with the PRO line has always been designing and delivering gaming peripherals for the esports players and professionals. I was very pleasedd with their PRO X 2 Wireless Gaming Headset and PRO X Superlight 2 Wireless Mouse which I’ve made as my primary peripherals for daily gaming.

To complete the package, Logitech G has released their latest PRO X 60 Wireless Gaming Keyboard – also designed in collaboration with the world’s top esports players. How does it fare? Can it really complete the whole experience with its next generation of PRO keyboard?

Speaking of portability, Logitech G even includes a carrying hard case to carry everything while protect the contents within.

For a start, the PRO X 60 is designed to be compact, most likely to allow professional players to bring this keyboard with ease to tournaments, or when they have to go somewhere to train with their teammates. It’s a 60% keyboard with dimensions of 290mm x 103mm x 39mm. Even if you are not a professional, you can appreciate the compactness of this keyboard which gives you more space on the desk.

While having a full-sized keyboard is great as you get that Numpad section to punch numbers quickly on a spreadsheet, they are not really ergonomic because your right arm that’s holding the mouse is not in a straight position. A 60% keyboard (or even a TKL) is better ergonomically and if you have a compact desk, they are also great to maximise your space.

Despite the compact design, the keyboard feels very durable. It has a good amount of weight with a sturdy aluminium frame and dual-shot PBT Keycaps. One thing that is normally missing with a gaming keyboard of this size is the volume roller. Thankfully, the team has come up with a great solution by placing the volume roller on the left side of the keyboard. I usually dislike controlling volume through a series of Function keys so I’m pretty pleased with this design alternative.

On the other side, there is a switch to enable Game Mode quickly which makes it easy to turn on and off.

And to further enable core functionalities with this compact keyboard, Logitech G introduces a new innovative technology called KEYCONTROL. This grants owners of the keyboard to assign up to 15 functions per key and tailor the keyboard to their own preference (so you can have a “virtual” numpad section on the letters section, for example). Accessing these extra layers is pretty easy and can be set to any key you like through the Logitech GHUB software.

You can also use the Function key to access the default, secondary function of a key. This can be a challenge though in a dimly-lit room because only the top surface of the key is backlit and it’s hard to see the labels of these secondary functions.

Logitech G PRO X 60 uses GX optical switches with Linear or Tactical options. While you can’t switch the switches, you can switch the keycaps if you wish. GX Optical switches actuate through the power of light compared to traditional mechanical switches, instantly sending your press action. While this is only some milliseconds faster compared to mechanical switches, those can be the minor difference that makes you win the game.

According to Logitech G, the keyboard can offer up to 65 hours of battery life – depending on usage obviously. There is a small indicator next to where you plug the USB-C cable to charge but it’s a rare chance that you’ll have a peek here each time you use the keyboard. Thankfully, you can also check its battery level through GHUB.

How about its wireless performance? While many still swear by using wired for highly competitive tournaments, we’ve seen many esports players put their faith in wireless gaming peripherals. With Logitech G’s LIGHTSPEED wireless technology, it eliminates interference and latency and I’ve never found any hiccups while playing a fast-paced, first-person shooter, Overwatch 2. The technology has also been tested by Logitech in a cutting-edge anechoic chamber that generates equivalent radio frequency interference to ensure performance and stability.

Switching between Bluetooth and LIGHTSPEED Wireless is pretty simple through included hardware buttons – because there are times when you just want to use the keyboard for working and switching to Bluetooth saves a great deal of battery life. The included USB wireless dongle can also be stored below the keyboard whenever you need to travel with the X 60.

Logitech G PRO X 60 is a compact, durable keyboard equipped with all the core fundamentals and functionalities to game professionally. It has a compact factor, yet durable and easy to carry, thanks to the inclusion of a premium, hard case. Its design is well thought-of such as the dedicated volume roller and game mode inclusions despite the keyboard size, a place to store its USB wireless adapter, fast and stable LIGHTSPEED wireless technology, and a new Keycontrol that gives you more customisations to expand your compact keyboard to a full one virtually, among other advanced usages.

However, the keyboard is priced at A$399.95 which is at the premium price. It can be hard to convince many players while Logitech’s competitors out there (Razer, SteelSeries, CORSAIR, etc) have released wireless gaming keyboards with 8,000 Hz polling rate, Rapid Trigger, or custom actuation-per-key feature. While I believe the Rapid Trigger can be released later through a firmware update, it will be hard for this keyboard to compete with the other similar 60% keyboards out there at the moment.

Sure, professional gamers who are looking for a premium, durable, well-designed, well-built wireless gaming keyboard will be happy with the Logitech G PRO X 60. After all, they were the ones who collaborated together with Logitech to create this keyboard. However, the competition is stiff and it would be hard to convince most gamers to make the switch unless there’s a big reason to.
