iPhone 6 is here with its bigger sibling, iPhone 6 Plus

iPhone 6

Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were officially unveiled last night, confirming all the rumors that we have heard and seen so far. In a sense, it takes out all the excitements from the launch but also a relief that the rumors are true (the good ones).

I’m personally looking forward for iPhone 6 and its future, especially with the new Apple payment service that they were also announcing, the Apple Pay (no, it’s not iPay).

The iPhone 6 is 6.9mm in thickness with 4.7″ Retina HD display (1334×750, 326ppi) and the iPhone 6 Plus comes with a slightly thicker 7.1mm body with 5.5″ Retina HD display (1920×1080, 401ppi). The screen will have a higher contrast than before with more accurate color.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus screens

They are supposed to offer a more impressive screen viewing & reading experience compared to the previous iPhones, but it’s hard to tell from videos and screenshots. Will definitely have to experience them yourselves to be able to notice and appreciate the difference. I personally love the iPhone 5s screen and it feels as if the pixels pop out (compared to the other smartphones I’ve used and reviewed before). I’m sure we will all love iPhone 6 screens.

To take advantage of a larger screen, the iPhone 6 Plus will also have a Landscape mode where apps can have their own layout and interface changed dynamically.

The new A8 chip processor is more powerful and energy efficient and the new M8 motion coprocessor also has a new barometer sensor.

Battery life gets a bit of disappointing upgrade, despite of the bigger body where it can have more battery capacity than the previous models. I’m sure many people will be disappointed for not seeing a much improved battery life.

The camera, obviously, gets an upgrade as well, including an Optical Image Stabilisation. Sadly, it is a feature exclusive for the iPhone 6 Plus (I most likely will be getting the iPhone 6, not the 6 Plus). The iSight camera also has improved face-detection, exposure control, and a super fast autofocus.

You can also record a 1080p HD video at 60fps, 240-fps slow motion video, and time-lapse videos. The cinematic video stabilisation will also help you make cooler and more professional looking videos.
