Dyson has officially launched the HushJet Purifier Compact in Australia, marking a significant shift away from the company’s longstanding Air Multiplier technology. This new small-format purifier introduces the HushJet Nozzle system, designed to deliver whole room purification with notably higher airflow velocity and extended filter longevity.
The device captures 99.97% of pollutants as small as 0.3 microns and operates at just 24 dB in Sleep mode, making it one of the quieter purifiers available for bedroom use. James Dyson explained the engineering approach behind the launch, saying the team developed a method to smooth high-speed airflow whilst minimising turbulence and reducing aerodynamic noise. This allows the HushJet to push substantial air volume without the typical noise penalties that come with compact purifiers.
The new HushJet entrainment nozzle works similarly to a hairdryer concentrator, increasing airflow velocity by entraining surrounding air as the high-speed jet exits. This amplification effect means faster air circulation and more effective purification across larger spaces, despite the compact footprint.
For bedroom environments where indoor pollutants can accumulate quickly in well-sealed spaces, the HushJet Purifier Compact runs quietly throughout the night. Research indicates that air pollution and allergens can negatively impact sleep quality, so the machine’s ability to remove airborne irritants like pollen, dust, and pet dander could help reduce symptoms such as congestion, dry throats, and itchy eyes that typically disrupt rest.
The star-shaped entrainment nozzle design serves a dual purpose. It reduces turbulence whilst also attenuating sound waves produced by the high-speed compressor. Operating at roughly the volume of soft whispers in night mode, the purifier sits comfortably in bedrooms without creating distractions.
Smart auto mode uses real-time sensors to monitor air quality and automatically adjusts performance levels, even during sleep hours. For households with pets, the system handles pet dander and odour removal effectively, which should appeal to owners dealing with allergen concerns.
The electrostatic HEPA filtration system represents another notable upgrade. The charged filter media is more energy efficient, uses less material, and extends filter life to up to five years. That’s a fivefold increase compared to Dyson’s previous HEPA filters, which translates to lower long-term maintenance costs and less frequent replacements.
With a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 250m³/h, the HushJet delivers strong performance relative to its size. The fully sealed filtration system ensures captured pollutants remain trapped inside rather than recirculating back into the room. Maximum room coverage extends to 100m², making it suitable for larger bedrooms, home offices, or living spaces.
The machine measures 45cm x 23cm x 23cm and weighs 3.5kg, offering portability between rooms if needed. Smart controls through the MyDyson app allow users to create schedules, monitor air quality remotely, and receive notifications. Voice control compatibility with Alexa and Google assistants adds convenient hands-free operation.
The Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact is available now in Australia for $549 AUD, positioning it in the mid-range category for compact air purifiers with advanced filtration capabilities.
