Dyson has officially launched the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai in Australia, marking the company’s first robotic vacuum capable of handling both wet and dry floor cleaning. Available from 5th February 2026 at $1,999 AUD, this latest addition to Dyson’s robot lineup brings AI-powered stain detection and self-cleaning technology to Australian homes.
The Spot+Scrub Ai represents a significant step forward in Dyson’s robotic vacuum development, which actually dates back to the 1990s when engineers first started working on autonomous cleaning solutions. The DC06 was revealed in 2001, and the technology has continued advancing ever since. According to James Dyson, founder of Dyson, the new robot is designed to be a determined and adaptable machine that intelligently detects, identifies, and cleans stains, spills, and debris using advanced AI systems.
The robot’s standout capability lies in its three-step cleaning approach that mimics how people typically spot-clean floors. It starts by detecting stains and dirt using green laser-like illumination combined with an AI-powered camera system. The robot then reacts and adapts its cleaning behaviour in real-time before checking the floor again to ensure the stain has been properly removed. When it detects a persistent stain, the Spot+Scrub Ai can perform up to 15 focused cleaning passes over the affected area, with its HD camera monitoring progress until the stain disappears.
The AI vision system can recognise nearly 200 types of objects and household obstacles, including common items like cables, socks, and even pet mess. This allows the robot to make intelligent decisions about cleaning routes and avoid missing areas while navigating around obstacles efficiently.
One of the key innovations is the self-cleaning wet roller system, which features a 12-point hydration system that delivers fresh, heated water during cleaning. The microfibre roller cleans itself on every rotation, ensuring that only clean fibres make contact with your floor surface. This continuous self-cleaning process means every section of your floor gets washed with fresh water rather than dirty water being spread around.
The roller mechanism can automatically extend 40mm outward, allowing the Spot+Scrub Ai to clean right up to skirting boards and edges where dirt tends to accumulate. This addresses one of the common limitations found in many robot vacuums that struggle to reach these areas properly.
For dry debris, the robot returns to a bagless, cyclonic dock that hygienically empties collected dirt using 10 powerful Dyson root cyclones. The dock has a capacity of up to 100 days, removing the need for constant maintenance or replacement bags.
Navigation is handled through a combination of LiDAR technology and AI vision systems that map home layouts and automatically label rooms. This makes it easier to set up zone cleaning through the MyDyson app, where users can also initiate targeted spot cleans in specific areas. After each cleaning session, the robot generates a “Clean Map” in the app showing where objects were encountered and which areas were cleaned.
The Spot+Scrub Ai also features an auto-dosing system that automatically dispenses 10ml of Dyson’s Probiotic floor cleaning formulation with each fresh water fill. This precision dosing removes the need for manual measuring and helps reduce waste while keeping both the floors and the robot’s internal components hygienic with minimal user effort.
The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai is available now at Dyson stores across Australia and through Dyson.com.au, with customers able to experience the robot firsthand at local Dyson Store locations before purchasing.
