CES 2012 – New Mobile Tech for 2012 Unveiled

CES 2012

CES 2012 Mobile Tech – Every year the leaders of technology and gadgets meet in Las Vegas for the ultimate in show-n-tell. CES 2012 kicked off on January 9th and has unveiled some hot new tech in mobile phones and tablet for the coming year. The giants of mobile technology that we have grown to love are not letting us down this year with new mobile devices that will make our lives more efficient while on the go.

CES 2012 – Mobile Phones

CES has always offered some amazing insight into the world of mobile phones, this year only a few new phones really stood out. While most companies are waiting for the Mobile World Congress in February, Sony, HTC, Nokia, Motorola, and LG were not afraid to let their products shine.

After Sony absorbed Ericcson, there were still glimpses of Ericcson’s branding on the shared devices. Now the Sony Xperia S is the first phone without an iota of Ericcson naming on it. However the design may seem familiar as it is basically the same phone as the Sony Ericcson Xperia Arc, with a few upgrades. For instance the new Sony Xperia comes with a 4.3 inch Reality Display, a 12mp camera and they promise an Android Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade later in the year.

Sony wasn’t the only company revisiting a previous design as HTC upgraded their Titan. Again it is another design that may seem familiar but now with a 16mp camera, wide angle lens, dual LED flash, and LTE support. It has been ramped up for service on AT&T’s network. Though it seems the phone is that same Titan many have grown to love, the upgrades make it worth checking into again.

Nokia Lumia

Both Nokia and LG concentrated on the size of their screens rather than the size of their cameras. Nokia’s Lumia 900 has new innovations such as being LTE powered, having a new and larger 4.3 inch display and a better front camera.  The LG Spectrum also comes with a larger screen. At 4.5 inches, the IPS LCD rivals the iPhone 4’s Retina display.

New software was unveiled for easy conversion of DVD and video into mobile formats. 123 Movies2iPad was announced that it offers support for video conversion into all portable formats which covers iOS devices, Android, Blackberry, and video formats like DivX.  Learn more about 123Movies2iPad here.

CES 2012 – Tablets

Tablets are increasing in popularity as well as technology. This year the makers of our favorite tablets have showed us what they got. And this year that is a lot.

For instance the Acer Iconia Tab A700 will come with Ice Cream Sandwich and a quad-core processor. Toshiba is trying their hand again in the tablet market with their Excite 10. It includes a 10.1 inch display powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor.

Lenovo was the maker with the most by unveiling two models of tablet. Their IdeaPad S2 and K2 are launching this year. The S2 will be running Ice Cream Sandwich where the K2 is powered by the quad-core Tegra 3. Both models are expected to do well as powerful options for the tablet lovers.

Mobile technology is in constant transition, and though this year’s CES didn’t offer as much as previous years, the Mobile World Congress next month should prove to be a cornucopia of mobile innovation. If you are on the constant go, keep an eye out for mobile tech that might be useful to you this year.
