Very useful and informative Mike! I haven’t get time to explore all the new features of the latest wordpress platform but you found great new ones :) I just love the ability to easily switch from flash to conventional uploading feature, is it new too? lol!

Yeah it’s new too, but I love the Flash upload, so I won’t change to the conventional ones :D

I can’t wait to see what they’re up to in WordPress 2.7!

Upgrades are time consuming. But I feel the need to upgrade every time wordpress does. Then, plugins stop working. The added benefits don’t outweigh the hassles. I wish they’d upgrade less.

While upgrades do add new features, most upgrades also address critical security issues. It’s suggested to upgrade ASAP when a new release comes out to prevent your website from being exploited / hacked.

There’s even an automatic upgrade plugin if you don’t feel comfortable upgrading manually: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/

I wrote a post about that plug-in here, if you are interested.

As always, you don’t have to upgrade if you don’t want to, but why? :)

Yeah it’s great, isn’t it. Just wish they have an auto-update option to the plug-ins too so we don’t have to click them manually to upgrade :)
