Samsung Electronics Releases Smart Monitor M9 With AI-Powered QD-OLED Display in Australia

Samsung Electronics has launched its newest Smart Monitor lineup in Australia, bringing QD-OLED display technology to consumers for the first time in the Smart Monitor M9. The flagship model joins refreshed M8 and M7 variants, all featuring AI-powered experiences that adapt to how you work and play.

The Smart Monitor M9 represents Samsung’s most advanced monitor yet, combining premium QD-OLED technology with intelligent features that personalise your viewing experience. Whether you’re editing videos, streaming content, or gaming, this monitor adjusts automatically to deliver optimal performance for whatever you’re doing. Looks to be awesome as well for coding – which is what I do for living.

The Smart Monitor M9 has a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED panel, which delivers the deep blacks and vibrant colours that OLED technology is known for. This isn’t just another pretty display though – Samsung has included their OLED Safeguard+ technology with a proprietary cooling system designed to reduce burn-in risks, addressing one of the main concerns people have with OLED displays.

The monitor doesn’t just look good – it should perform exceptionally well for gaming too. With a 165Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time, competitive gamers will appreciate the smooth, responsive experience and I personally think 165Hz is enough (but pro players might argue for sure). Combined with Samsung Gaming Hub for cloud gaming, you can jump into games without needing a console or gaming PC connected.

What sets these monitors apart from traditional displays is the integration of Samsung Vision AI. The AI Picture Optimiser works alongside 4K AI Upscaling Pro to enhance content quality in real-time, while Active Voice Amplifier Pro adjusts audio based on your environment and what you’re watching.

The technology adapts to your content and surroundings automatically so for example, if you’re in a bright room watching a dark movie, the display compensates. If there’s background noise during a video call, the audio enhancement kicks in to make voices clearer.

The M9 has also earned Pantone Validated certification, which is significant for creative professionals who need accurate colour reproduction. This certification means the display meets Pantone’s rigorous standards for colour accuracy that’s nearly indistinguishable to the human eye under standard lighting conditions.

The Smart Monitor M8 and M7 models extend Samsung’s smart monitor experience to users who don’t need the premium QD-OLED technology but still want intelligent features. Both offer 32-inch 4K UHD screens with Samsung’s VA panel technology, delivering sharp detail and rich contrast for everyday use.

All three models integrate with SmartThings for smart home connectivity and support Multi Control between Samsung devices. The Multi View feature lets you work with multiple inputs side-by-side, which is particularly useful for productivity workflows.

One practical feature across the lineup is direct Microsoft 365 access, allowing you to create and edit documents without a connected PC. For many users, this could eliminate the need for a separate computer for basic tasks.

Running on Tizen OS, these monitors function as smart entertainment hubs with access to popular streaming apps and Samsung TV Plus. The interface personalises recommendations and makes it easy to access frequently used services and inputs.

Samsung Gaming Hub integration means you can access cloud gaming services without additional hardware. While cloud gaming still depends heavily on your internet connection, having it built into the monitor removes another barrier to entry.

Australian Availability and Pricing

The Smart Monitor lineup is available now through Samsung’s online store and leading retailers across Australia. Pricing reflects the different target markets for each model:

The Smart Monitor M9 (32-inch, Silver) carries an RRP of A$2,499, positioning it as a premium option for users who want the best display technology Samsung offers. The Smart Monitor M8 (32-inch, White) is priced at A$999 and exclusive to Samsung’s online store, while the Smart Monitor M7 comes in multiple configurations – 32-inch models (Black and White) at A$699 and a 43-inch Black model at A$849.

Samsung is backing these monitors with up to seven years of One UI Tizen upgrades, ensuring users continue receiving new features and services over time. This long-term support commitment is particularly valuable for monitors, which typically have longer replacement cycles than phones or tablets.
