After years of the MMO mouse market feeling a little stagnant, Razer has announced the Naga V3 Pro, and it looks like the company has been paying close attention to community feedback. It doesn’t just come with the familiar 12-button thumb grid but also has a lockable ring finger button that’s making a comeback after being dropped from the V2 Pro due to accidental click complaints.
The Naga series has been around since 2009, and for a lot of MMO players, it’s THE mouse. That 12-button layout on the thumb side is muscle memory built up over years of raiding and ability rotations. The V3 Pro keeps all of that, but Razer has made the whole thing modular. Three magnetic side plates let you swap between a 12-button layout for MMOs, a 6-button plate for MOBAs and battle royale, and a 2-button layout for FPS or general use. No tools, no fuss.
The ring finger button that returns here has been redesigned with a lockable mechanism, so you can enable it when you want the extra input and switch it off entirely when you don’t. That’s a sensible solution to the original complaint. There are also two quick-access edge buttons beside the left click for on-the-fly DPI adjustment, and all side buttons now use double-shot moulded keys.
Scroll control has been upgraded with the HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2, which now offers four modes: the standard 24-step tactile scrolling, a new 48-step Precision Tactile mode for finer control when cycling through weapons or abilities, a Free-Spin mode for fast long scrolls, and a Smart-Reel mode that automatically switches between tactile and free-spin based on how fast you’re scrolling.
Under the hood, the V3 Pro runs Razer’s Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3 with Frame Sync, which aligns the sensor’s scanning with your display refresh rate to reduce input delay. It’s rated up to 50,000 DPI, 930 IPS, and 90G acceleration which is more than enough for any genre. The optical switches are Gen-4, rated for over 100 million clicks and with a 12% lighter actuation force than before.
On the wireless side, the V3 Pro connects via HyperSpeed Wireless or Bluetooth, with battery life rated at up to 155 hours on HyperSpeed and 280 hours on Bluetooth. It also supports wired play via USB-C while charging, and is compatible with Razer’s HyperFlux V2 Charging System and Mouse Dock Pro, both sold separately. Up to five onboard memory profiles mean your custom layouts and macros travel with the mouse.
From what I can see, the V3 Pro addresses almost every complaint the MMO mouse community has raised over the past few years: modularity, button return, switch quality, and battery life. Too bad I don’t really play MMO games anymore but if you do, looks like this is a keeper.
