IKEA and XBOX launch a new gaming-inspired collection, designed to feel at home wherever play happens

Introducing YXSTABY, a nine-piece collection designed by IKEA and XBOX in an exclusive collaboration for gaming at home as it happens today, in any room and alongside everything and everyone else in it.

The YXSTABY collection is designed for the way gaming fits into daily life, with thoughtful, versatile pieces that make room when it’s time to play, and still feel at home when the game is over.

Throughout the process, the designers considered the needs of both players and the people who share their spaces. How might a lounge chair, for example, support different positions and moods of play, hold gear discreetly when the game is over, and still feel at home in the living room or wherever you choose to play?

The collection also makes it easier to bring play into a room and tuck everything away afterwards. The TV stand, the first of its kind IKEA has developed, rolls to wherever play is happening, with storage for gear at the back, and rolls away when the game is over.

The XBOX controller is a recurring source of inspiration for the collection, shaping both how several pieces look and how they work. Its familiar forms and details appear throughout the collection in unexpected ways and help create thoughtful gaming solutions for the home. The D-pad becomes both a comfortable cushion and a decorative platter in shiny stainless steel. A mirrored display box showcases a controller from every side, alongside figurines and other collectibles worth showing off. The thumbstick stool takes the idea furthest.

For people without a dedicated gaming space, the toolbox keeps controllers, cables and hardware together. Its lid closes over the contents and doubles as a laptop stand, so the dining table can become a place to play and then simply return to being a dining table.

Other pieces solve the small, familiar challenges that can come with playing at home. The side table rolls to wherever you sit, giving controllers somewhere to rest other than the arm of the sofa, with space to charge behind its sliding doors. The monitor stand raises one or two screens to a comfortable height, with storage underneath and holders for a phone, headphones and controller.

What’s cool about YXSTABY is that IKEA and XBOX are not treating gaming as something that necessarily needs its own dedicated room. The collection is built around the reality that many people game in shared spaces, whether that is the living room, bedroom or dining table, and that the setup often needs to disappear again once the session is over.

There is also a nice balance between practical furniture and the more playful XBOX-inspired pieces. The mobile TV stand, side table and storage solutions are very useful, while things like the D-pad cushion, controller display box and thumbstick stool give the collection enough personality without making every piece look like stereotypical gaming furniture.

I also like that IKEA has kept the overall look relatively understated. The XBOX influence is definitely there, but most of the range should still blend into a normal living space rather than dominating it. For people who want a gaming setup that can coexist with the rest of the home, YXSTABY should suit them well.

The IKEA and XBOX YXSTABY collection is available in stores and online across IKEA Australia and New Zealand from 1 October 2026.
