HP Brings Next-Gen AI Computing to Australia with the OmniBook Ultra Flip 14

HP has just unveiled its first AI-powered 2-in-1 laptop in Australia, marking a significant step forward in personal computing. The OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 combines AI capabilities with versatile design, aiming to deliver a more intelligent and adaptable computing experience.

At the heart of this new machine sits Intel’s Core Ultra processor with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), capable of delivering up to 48 TOPS of AI performance. What makes this particularly interesting is the ability to run AI tasks locally on the device, prioritising both performance and privacy – something that’s becoming increasingly important in today’s computing landscape.

The hardware specifications are impressive too. The OmniBook Ultra Flip features a 3K OLED display that can transform between laptop, tablet, and tent modes. For content creators and professionals, there’s a 9MP AI-enhanced camera paired with Poly Audio technology, while the haptic touchpad and inking capabilities add extra versatility for creative work.

Battery life looks promising, with HP claiming up to 20 hours of local video playback. The laptop also incorporates HP’s Wolf Security suite and includes McAfee’s Smart AI Deepfake Detector – particularly relevant given the rising concerns about AI-generated content.

On the software side, HP’s AI Companion serves as a central hub for AI features, helping users analyse files and optimise system performance. The Poly Camera Pro leverages the NPU for features like Spotlight and Background Blur while maintaining efficiency.

Environmental considerations haven’t been overlooked either. The laptop incorporates 90% recycled metals and 50% post-consumer recycled plastics, earning EPEAT Gold with Climate+ and ENERGY STAR certifications.

The HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 is available now through HP’s online store, with prices starting at $2,999 AUD. This positioning puts it squarely in the premium laptop segment, targeting professionals and creators who want to leverage AI capabilities in their daily work.
