Well, Apple’s latest “It’s Glowtime” event did glow with new product announcements. Of course, it had to be about new iPhones: the iPhone 16 lineup, Apple Watch Series 10, and fourthgen AirPods, each packing improved hardware, advanced AI features, and refined designs. Okay, let’s take a closer look at what was announced by Apple.
A Closer Look at the Products Launched from Apple “It’s Glowtime” 2024 Event
iPhone 16 Series
The iPhone 16 series comprises the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. As great as these models were in terms of some amazing new features, one of these replaced the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro. That user can customize it for any particular action like opening the camera or muting notifications. This also introduces a new physical camera control button for quick photo and video capture together with camera setting adjustment.
The iPhone 16 keeps the same design and features: MagSafe wireless charging, a squared-off frame, Apple’s Dynamic Island cutout to house the front camera, and Face ID sensors. Both Pro models are somewhat bigger on both screen and physical dimension fronts: the iPhone 16 Pro is 6.3 inches on the screen, while the Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display.
The iPhone 16 and the 16 Plus house an A18 chip, whereas the Pro models fall to the A18 Pro chip. Among other cool features this will bring into play are photo search-by-description utility and the ability to create custom emojis-all as a result of Apple’s suite of AI tools, Apple Intelligence. The new chips are said to bring in a quite large increment in performance over the current models.
It’s a different story when it comes to the Pros, which are fitted with a 48MP ultrawide sensor and a 5x telephoto camera in a ‘tetra prism design’, allowing for stunning 4K 120 fps Dolby Vision or slo-mo videos. While the prices start from $799 for the iPhone 16, it goes higher up to $899 for the iPhone 16 Plus, $999 for the iPhone 16 Pro, and top out at $1,199 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The pre-orders start from September 13, with sales beginning from September 20.
Apple Watch Series 10
The Apple Watch Series 10 packs loads of new stuff into a slicker design; it’s now the thinnest Apple Watch ever, nearly 10% thinner compared to previous generations. The Series 10 makes way for a screen size as big as 30% compared to Series 4 through 6 and up to 9% compared to Series 7 to 9.
It also brings a new headline feature, sleep apnea detection, tracking breathing disturbances during the night. It will also be provided for the Series 9 and Ultra 2 with a software update. The Series 10 is also fitted with depth and water temperature sensors, perfect for outdoor and water sports. The Series 10 starts from $399 in sizes 42 mm and 46 mm, shipping September 20.
AirPods 4
Designs and performances of the fourth generation have been giant leaps and bounds. Inside is a new H4 chip for better audio, along with the new “Personalised Spatial Audio” that changes depending on where you are. AirPods now move onto USB-C for charging, while Transparency Mode and Voice Isolation have now been brought in with these new AirPods. These new inclusions clear up the audio and make you much more aware of your surroundings.
The AirPods 4 will arrive in a regular model for $129 and a noise-cancelling model priced at $149. Both will be available for preorder on September 20 and then they will make their way to store shelves later that week.
Other Updates
There were also minor refreshes for the Apple Watch Ultra and the AirPods Pro 2. For one, the Apple Watch Ultra now comes with a satin black finish with a titanium Milanese Loop band. Meanwhile, the AirPods Pro 2 features hearing aid support which employs machine learning algorithms for hearing protection.
In a nutshell, “It’s Glowtime” was an innovative and comprehensive strategy of refining innovation and design in the entire product line. Be it new features and improvements in the new release of coveted iPhones, new introductions to the Apple Watch lineup, or upgraded AirPods of them is sure to surprise.
