The EPOS ADAPT E1 Series positions itself as the ultimate all-in-one earbud for professionals who refuse to compromise on audio quality. It’s a perfect earbud for me personally because I’m currently working remotely in I.T and have to attend various meetings via Zoom and Huddle a few times a day.

After spending several weeks with these earbuds across various work scenarios and personal listening sessions, I can confidently say they’ve earned their place as serious contenders in the professional audio space.

The charging case itself is compact enough for any laptop bag or jacket/pants pocket – it’s not wide and big like the Powerbeats Pro 2 and certainly not heavy to carry. The magnetic closure feels secure, and the LED indicators provide clear battery status at a glance.

The semi-open design prevents the ear fatigue that can plague users of fully sealed earbuds during long conference calls. I like it but note that these earbuds won’t provide the complete isolation some users prefer for very noisy environments (like a crowded cafe) or when maximum bass impact is desired during music listening.

The microphone quality ensures your voice comes through clearly on calls, while the noise cancellation helps you focus in busy environments – if you need it (you can turn it off).

The ADAPT E1 earns its professional credentials through practical features rather than gimmicky additions. I regularly switch between taking calls on my iPhone and joining meetings on my work laptop, and the transition happens smoothly every time.

The earbuds work perfectly well with Zoom and Slack’s Huddle (the two applications that I use most on a day to day basis).

The Made for iPhone certification delivers similar benefits on the iOS side, with seamless Siri integration and optimised battery management that works harmoniously with your iPhone’s power systems. But of course, Android works as well.

Sound Quality

EPOS has engineered the ADAPT E1 with their signature sound profile that balances professional audio requirements with personal listening enjoyment. The result is a neutral, accurate sound reproduction that works equally well for conference calls and your favourite music.

The bass response is solid without being overpowering – perfect for professional calls where you need clear speech reproduction, yet satisfying enough for music genres that rely on low-end presence. High-frequency detail is crisp and well-defined, bringing out the nuances in acoustic instruments and ensuring consonants remain clear during speech. The overall sound signature leans towards accuracy rather than excitement, which suits the professional positioning perfectly.

Through the EPOS Connect app, you can choose from five sound presets including bass boost and treble boost options. While the default setting works well for most scenarios (which I am on right now), the customisation options allow you to tailor the sound to your preferences or specific content types.

Active Noise Cancellation

The hybrid ANC system on the ADAPT E1 strikes an excellent balance between noise reduction and maintaining situational awareness. Unlike aggressive ANC implementations that can feel oppressive, EPOS has tuned their system to reduce distracting background noise while preserving important ambient sounds.

This approach works particularly well in office environments where you need to focus on calls or concentrate on work, but still want to hear if someone approaches your desk or if there’s an important announcement. The ANC effectively dampens my air conditioning hum inside the room, keyboard typing (assuming you are not on a mechanical keyboard), and general ambiance. I can (unfortunately) still hear my son’s banter and chatter in the background.

While the active noise cancellation is not as aggressive as, say, Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, you won’t notice that air pressure feel (which I’m not a fond of) and in most cases, is good enough.

The ambient mode feature provides the opposite experience when you need full environmental awareness. This mode delivers natural, open sound that keeps you connected to your surroundings – perfect for walking through busy areas or when you need to maintain awareness of your environment while still enjoying your audio content. It doesn’t sound as if it amplifies the noise surround you, offering one of the best natural sound possible.

Battery Life

The 50-hour total battery life claim proves pretty accurate in real-world usage. The earbuds themselves provide excellent per-charge runtime, and the wireless charging case extends this significantly. During my testing period, I rarely worried about battery life, even during particularly demanding weeks with numerous long calls and extended music sessions.

The wireless charging case adds convenience, especially in modern offices equipped with wireless charging pads like our company’s office in Melbourne. I placed my review unit on the STM ChargeTree Mag and love how convenient it is to charge the charging case with the earbuds in it.

Charging speed is reasonable, with the case providing quick top-ups when needed. The LED indicators clearly show charging status, and the case holds enough power for multiple full charges of the earbuds.
