On Microsoft Windows Team Blog today, Brandon LeBlanc published a blog post saying that Microsoft has decided to give away Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 7 beta testers, an unexpected move by Microsoft. Previously the beta testers were told that they wouldn’t be receiving a legitimate copy of Windows 7 as a beta test gift. Angry and desperate testers were “begging” for it. Although they have the rights to ask for it, I believe you shouldn’t do a beta test if you are always expecting something in return!
But news like this usually give us a long sigh “Why didn’t I apply for the beta test?” or “Why didn’t they pick me?”

I know but I think the registration wasn’t public. If I’m not mistaken, the closed beta test only opened to those who tested Vista or earlier version of Windows
