A new weekly reality TV show called “The Pursuit” will go on air for the first time this Sunday, 9th October 2009, 4:30 p.m (Australia). In a nutshell, The Pursuit is kind of similar to “The Amazing Race” except that it’s aimed specifically for gamers.
Every week, 3 teams of 2 (must be older than 16 years old) will compete in a race around Australia cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra. In each episode, the teams are charged with a mission to crack 4 digital clues as fast as they can and compete against the other teams to reach the final secret location first. The competing teams have only a WiFi computer console and $100 in cash to navigate their way through the course to win the episode and take one step closer to the Grand Final (and win large cash as the prize).
Southern Star Entertainment Jason Franklin, the Executive Producer of the show says:
The Pursuit is an incredible TV first. Australia has taken The Amazing Race and given it a state-of -the-art technology hook. It’s a game of brainpower, not physical prowess, and those who use their armoury will run a better race.
About Maude Garrett
Maude Garrett will be your host on The Pursuit and she is a well-known face to many young Australians as a popular children’s TV presenter. Maude’s experience as the host of the award winning Nickelodeon series Camp Orange has prepared her for the challenges the contestants will face. “Success will be achieved by using your wits, your smarts and every weapon at your disposal.”
Commuters may spot teams racing across Australia’s capital cities in upcoming weeks. “Whether you’re strolling through Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall; shopping on Melbourne’s Chapel Street or waiting at Brisbane’s Central Station, keep your eyes peeled for our red, green and blue teams!” says Maude.
The Pursuit premieres this Sunday 11 October at 4.30pm on the Nine Network.
I wish the show can be aired during the night on Weekdays though, as I don’t normally stay at home on Sundays :(
