Nothing’s sub-brand CMF has unveiled their most impressive lineup to date with the CMF Phone 2 Pro alongside three new earbuds models.
The new Phone 2 Pro represents a significant step up from last year’s model, bringing premium features that were previously unavailable at this price range. Meanwhile, the expanded audio range with three distinct earbuds models shows CMF’s commitment to catering to different listener preferences and budgets.
CMF Phone 2 Pro: Premium Features Meet Affordability
The CMF Phone 2 Pro immediately stands out as the thinnest and lightest smartphone in Nothing’s portfolio to date. At just 7.8mm thick and weighing a mere 185g, it’s noticeably slimmer than its predecessor whilst maintaining that signature exposed hardware aesthetic with stainless steel screws and an aluminium camera surround.
What’s particularly impressive is the camera system, which features a 50MP main sensor with the largest sensor size in its class, capturing 64% more light than the previous model. The inclusion of a telephoto lens with 20x digital zoom capability is virtually unheard of in this price segment, making it a potential game-changer for mobile photography enthusiasts working with limited budgets.
Performance receives a substantial boost with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G processor, delivering 10% faster processing and 5% better graphics performance compared to the original CMF Phone. The 5000mAh battery promises nearly an hour more usage time, potentially stretching to two full days on a single charge for moderate users.
The display seems to be where CMF has made some of its most significant improvements. The 6.77″ FHD+ flexible AMOLED panel now supports 1.07 billion colours and reaches an impressive peak brightness of 3000 nits – 50% brighter than its predecessor. Combined with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 1000Hz touch sampling (a massive 316% increase), this should make for a much more responsive and vibrant viewing experience.
It’s cool to see NFC support being added for contactless payments – an omission from the original model that limited its practicality for many users. The modular approach continues with new accessories including a universal cover, interchangeable fisheye and macro lenses, plus a wallet/stand attachment.
Expanded Audio Range: Something for Everyone
The new CMF earbuds lineup presents three distinct options across different price points:
The CMF Buds 2a serve as the entry-level option at $79 AUD, featuring 42dB ANC and a 12.4mm bio-fibre driver that should deliver decent bass response for casual listeners.
Moving up to the CMF Buds 2 at $89 AUD brings Dirac Opteo tuning, stronger 48dB hybrid ANC, and spatial audio effects – likely to appeal to those wanting more immersive sound without breaking the bank.
The premium CMF Buds 2 Plus at $109 AUD offer Hi-Res LDAC codec support, hearing compensation, and full EQ customisation for audiophiles seeking more personalised sound profiles.
CMF has managed to keep all options under $110 AUD, which is quite remarkable considering the feature sets.
Australia Availability and Pricing
Australian customers can pre-order the entire CMF lineup exclusively from JB Hi-Fi with open sales beginning on May 6th. The Phone 2 Pro comes in two storage configurations: 8GB+128GB at $449 AUD and 8GB+256GB at $509 AUD.
With four colour options (White, Black, Orange and Light Green) featuring different finishes – from glass-like textures to sandstone panels – there’s a good variety to suit different tastes. The IP54 rating also provides improved water resistance compared to the previous generation’s IP52.
