Microsoft has released for public, the service packs for Windows Vista and Office 2007. The Windows Vista one are not final yet, but an RC (Release Candidate) is usually good enough for you to install and try. I wouldn’t recommend to try it in a production system though. Your call.
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 RC Build
It’s easier to download the stand alone installer here, rather than following Microsoft’s advice on using the windows update to get your service pack.
If you have already installed the previous beta build of Service Pack 1, then you must uninstall your previous Vista service pack 1 build first before applying this service pack 1 RC build.
Do this by going to the Control Panel – > Uninstall a Program, and then select the “View Installed Updates” on the left menu. You’ll find “Service Pack for Microsoft Windows” there that you can select and uninstall.
After uninstalling the previous build, you may then install the new service pack 1 RC build.
Uninstallation and Installation will take around 15-30 minutes to complete, so be patient, as it’s worth it. Things are much more stable and feel more responsive.
For Microsoft Office Service Pack 1, you can download it through Windows Update or the stand alone installer here.
