The new Roomba Max 705 Combo robot vacuum is bringing heated mopping capabilities and 175x more suction power to Australian households. iRobot has just announced the launch of their most sophisticated 2-in-1 cleaning system, which combines advanced AI navigation with an advanced mop cover that protects carpets from wet damage.
The Roomba Max 705 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock addresses the challenges home owners who have both carpeted and hard floor surfaces.
The PowerSpin Roller Mop with PerfectEdge technology continuously washes the mop during operation, extending into corners where dirt typically accumulates. The protective mop cover automatically engages when transitioning to carpeted areas, preventing that bad carpet wet incident with older robot vacuum+mop. It’s similar to the iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max I reviewed the other day.
The device incorporates ClearView Pro LiDAR alongside PrecisionVision AI technology, creating detailed 3D maps of your home while recognising common obstacles like toys, charging cables, and pet waste (yes, that is dog poo). This dual-sensor approach means the robot navigates intelligently rather than bumping around randomly, which has been a persistent issue with earlier generation models.
The AutoWash Dock offers 75 days of automated dust emptying, heated mop washing, drying, self-cleaning, and automatic refilling. That’s a good hands-free operation for an extended period of time, great for Australian families who don’t have the luxury to have house maids or cleaner hire frequently.
The 175x increased suction power works alongside anti-tangle Dual Rubber Brushes and Dual Edge-Sweeping Brushes to tackle everyday debris. Through the Roomba Home App or voice assistants, users can schedule specific cleaning missions, establish no-go zones, or target cleaning by room, object type, or floor surface. This granular control means you can have the robot focus on high-traffic areas during the day while avoiding quiet spaces during nap times.
