How good is iPhone 13 durability? The new Apple iPhone 13 and 13 Pro are the new iPhones on the block and people are wondering how tough they are compared to the previous iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. Apple also brags about the Ceramic Shield that protects the screen but we all know that even with that, screens can still get cracked and shattered with accidental drops.
Thankfully, you don’t have to drop your iPhone 13 to test it out yourself. Allstate Protection Plans have done these iPhone 13 drop tests and the results are in (along with the iPhone 13 drop test video!).
In summary, they’ve found that the new iPhone 13 and 13 Pro are comparable in durability to the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. It’s understandable since they are practically similar in terms of materials used and design.
There is also an additional test of dropping the iPhone 13 while in the Apple silicone MagSafe case and the iPhone 13 Pro in the Apple Leather MagSafe case.

- Back-Down Drop Test WITHOUT CASES: When dropped six feet onto a sidewalk on its back, iPhone 13 survived with virtually no damage—same as iPhone 12. After three drops, it suffered minor cracks on one of its cameras and along a corner. iPhone 13 Pro shattered after one drop, same as iPhone 12 Pro.
- iPhone 13 in Silicone Case with MagSafe Drop Tests: The silicone case made a significant difference in durability when dropped back-down: iPhone 13 survived 3 drops with only a small scratch on one camera lens. When dropped face-down, iPhone 13 cracked on its second drop, just as it did when not in a case.
- iPhone 13 Pro in Leather Case with MagSafe Drop Tests: The leather case made a significant difference in durability when dropped back down: iPhone 13 Pro survived 3 drops with no damage. performed best in our drop tests. When dropped face-down, iPhone 13 Pro cracked on its first drop, just as it did when not in a case.
A bit about Allstate Protection Plans

They consider the device’s physical characteristics, such as size, components, and materials that affect its repairability and performance in standardized robotic tests that simulate the most common causes of device damage.
So I guess in short, as durable as Apple iPhone 13 and 13 Pro sound, make sure to protect them with a good case and screen protector/tempered glass. Unless you are happy with minor cracks and scuffs or super duper careful with your toys.
These iPhone 13 durability tests definitely shows they are durable enough but not completely fall-proof.
