In reality, most guys’ shaving habits don’t stop with a single stroke. At Gillette, we’ve watched thousands of guys around the world step up to the sink and begin their grooming routine.

Guys have many grooming habits that get them looking their best. But guys are often in auto-pilot mode doing these and other typical activities throughout the day. Some auto-pilot behaviours may include puffing up their chest when feeling provoked or stroking their facial hair when thinking and taking a surprising number of strokes every time they shave.

Believe it or not, most guys take about 170 strokes every time they shave and 120 of them are re-strokes over the same area of the face after the initial strokes have wiped away most of the protective shave gel.

Gillette ProShield

The first strokes of your razor wipe away the shave gel and your skin is much less protected at the mercy of sharp, steel blades. Shaving over the same spot without lubrication can cause skin irritation, redness and bumps that keep guys from looking and feeling their best.

With the latest razor technology, excessive re-stroking isn’t necessary for a close shave, but old habits are hard to break. At Gillette, we are constantly looking for solutions to help improve the shave for guys, and that is why we are introducing Gillette Fusion ProShield – engineered to proactively shield against irritation, with lubrication before and after the blades.

In regards to blade technology we listened to our male consumers who find it difficult to reach those hard to reach areas, with the main blade. Thus, we developed a precision trimmer on the back of the cartridge. This allows for accurate edging and handles all those tricky hard to reach areas, such as side burns, under the nose, under the lip and around the Adam’s apple. Each razor in the Fusion family has five advanced blades on the front and one Precision Trimmer blade on the back.

This is the razor of the future, where we see the breakthroughsin blade and razor technology that makes the experience of shaving more comfortable and enjoyable.
