Samsung Gear S, S2, S3, Fit, and Fit 2 now works with an iPhone

Samsung Gear S3

Samsung Electronics has just announced the availability of Samsung Gear S/S2/S3/Fit/Fit2 app on the Apple App Store, adding compatibility to iPhone devices. In short, iPhone owners can now wear a Samsung smartwatch without having to move to an Android phone.

iPhone devices that are compatible with the Samsung smartwatches are: iPhone 7+/7, iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5c running iOS 9 and above.

Obviously, you wouldn’t be able to unlock the full potential of these Samsung Gear and Fit devices on an iPhone. Apple blocks a lot of things and you will be much better with an Apple Watch.

However, if you like the looks of Samsung Gear watches more, you can at least get notifications from your apps and a few other things.

For example, I reviewed the Motorola Moto 360 2nd Gen before with an iPhone and the experience wasn’t too bad. There are restrictions, however. So, if you don’t mind with the Apple Watch looks and have the money, you’d probably be better off with an Apple Watch.

But if you like round smartwatches (I personally don’t really like the design of Apple Watch), this is definitely great news.
